Do You Want Other Bloggers to Do the Work for You?

Look at the link slug above.

“please work for me”.

I consider this to be cute.

I do not call bloggers lazy.

I may point out delusion.

But struggling bloggers ultimately want experienced bloggers to do the work for them in more cases than not.

For example, I scanned another pitch from an outreach service today via my gmail. Someone followed up with me for the 3rd time. How did the individual want me to do the work for them?

She wanted a backlink on Blogging From Paradise Dot Com. She could consider getting in line. Bloggers want a backlink here for clear reasons. What is the clearest reason? I invested years to build my blog into the site that it is today. Rather than invest years towards building their blogs similarly it seems easier to just ask for a quality backlink once, twice, three times or more.

Why work when someone else already did the work for you? I guess this is the basic logic formulating spam pitches in my inboxes.

Let us get this straight: I spent 11 years building this blog into its current day version. I spent 17 years polishing my blogging skills.

She wishes to piggyback on 11 years of consistent, patient work by swooping in, nabbing a backlink and enjoying the spoils of my diligent work.

I built the blog.

She asks for a favor.

She genuinely wants me to do pretty much all of the heavy lifting. All she has to do is ask me to link to her blog. I think she told me that her site is trusted. Well that sounds like a convincing sell! 🙂

Many bloggers claimed that their sites are trusted – in my inbox – prior to the email from the kindly lady today. I can forward all such messages to the lady. She can see for herself. Oops…..I deleted every single one of these spam pitches. Oh well.

Take this Post in the Proper Spirit

I do not condemn this lady. Nor do I mock her approach. Everyone has to earn a living somehow. She assumes that this is the most effective way to earn an online living. Maybe folks all around her in the cyber world earn a living in similar fashion. Perhaps this seems like a reasonable strategy based on these observations.

But how else will you understand the absurd nature of this tactic unless I share transparent thoughts *from my perspective?*

See things from my observations to journey inside of my mind. Think how I think to effectively communicate with me. Connect with me by seeing things from my perspective. Or get buried and trashed by finding my spam folder; thinking from your vantage point (and not mine) pretty much guarantees this unfortunate end.

I could complain about her pitch. I could make fun of her. I could even explain how annoying her tactic seems to be because I have spied the same approach thousands of times since 2008.

She has no idea what she’s doing. I wrote this post for bloggers stuck in similar dead end strategies because doing the work themselves feels impossible.

Spam no longer upsets me. I do not take spam messages personally. If I did, how could I still be sane?

She wants me to do the work of:

  • building a blog into a trusted resource
  • earning blogging credibility
  • growing a loyal blogger buddy network

so she can swing in, get me to add her backlink to my blog, then she can enjoy the spoils of quality blog traffic and a trusted Do Follow backlink.

Does that make sense for me? Does that make sense for you, my readers? Does linking to a non-vetted stranger because she asked me to do it benefit me and you? Is it wise to do this? Would you consider this to be a wise investment of her time?

She would benefit handsomely. But I have never heard of her. She is a stranger who asked me to link to her blog like the thousands of strangers who also wanted me to do all of the blogging work for them too.

Do the work yourself.

Gain invaluable experience.

Join us bloggers back in reality.

Come Back to Reality

Eventually, this blogger will come back to reality.

Backlinks do not grow on trees.

She is in essence asking me for money as a nice little favor.

Backlinks on my blog mean something because I built that blog into something trusted over a vast period of my life.

Nope.

I am not that stupid.

I made many blogging mistakes.

But I no longer link to anyone unless:

  • the individual earned my trust over years
  • the individual proved themselves to be one of the top bloggers in the world

Do you need proof?

Click any external backlink on Blogging From Paradise Dot Com.

Every backlink points to a trusted blogging friend or one of the top bloggers on earth.

I only link to bloggers who put in work because I put in work. I respect bloggers who walked a similar path. I relate to them. I connect with bloggers who worked consistently through thick and thin to succeed. I link to these bloggers because they earned credibility through their patient work.

I never link to bloggers who want me to do all of the work for the same reason why they would never give me access to their bank account.

Imagine if that lady blogger worked an offline job. Imagine if I asked her to give me her paycheck?

She would deem me to be out of my mind; rightfully so.

Welcome to my blogging world!

I do not blame those thousands of bloggers for wanting to get something for nothing. But that doesn’t make them sane, does it?

Do the Blogging Work

Stop asking experienced bloggers to do the work for you.

Stop begging for backlinks. Stop asking for guest posts. Stop stalking pros for joint offers.

Do the work. Build your blog into a trusted resource. Publish detailed content consistently. Never hold back. Give away the blogging farm.

Write thorough blog posts. Target everything for your ideal reader.

Engage in genuine blogger outreach.

Publish long form content.

Create detailed content offsite.

Why Do the Work Yourself?

Gaining experience as you develop:

  • skills
  • credibility
  • exposure

is the only way to go pro.

Otherwise, people would out you as a fraud.

Do the work to become trustworthy. Do the work to become credible. Get connected. Be seen.

I never asked high level bloggers to link to my blog. I did the work so these pros wanted to organically link to my blog.

Conclusion

I will leave you on that note.

Do the blogging work so that people know, like and trust you.

Do the blogging work so pros want to link to your blog organically.

Gain the trust of loyal readers.

Get business from trusting customers and clients.

Do the blogging work.
