Do you spend a great deal of time trying to find the perfect promotional strategy?

Professional bloggers bandy about many opinions for the best way to promote a blog post.

Is it email marketing? Does Google offer you the best way to promote a blog post? Does sharing a blog post in 50 to 100 spots drive the most traffic to it? Have you even asked yourself if any of these strategies are the most efficient or effective? I’m all about saving time and work to reach your desired results; how about yourself? Freedom from time and location is literally how my live my life as a full-time digital nomad. I have no other option so I cannot take another path as long as I live this way.

What might just be the most effective way to promote a blog post?

Publish the next blog post. Publish the next blog post after that. Keep publishing new blog posts which point to and promote old blog posts.

This may be the best way to promote your blog based on the power of referral traffic through extension. Each new blog post goes out there in the world with your blog’s name on it pointing readers back to your prior blog posts.

What Is Most Effective?

Seemingly countless ways to promote a blog post exist but do these strategies beat writing and publishing the next blog post? I’m talking about efficiency here. I’m talking about effectiveness here.

Reaching out to 50 influencers is one way to promote a post but wasting your time when 10 or 20 or 45 ignore your email is not the best, most effective or most efficient way to do it.

But writing and publishing your next blog post is perhaps the most effective way because it is so razor sharp direct in pointing everybody back to your blog and prior posts.

In terms of efficiency, or trading your work for results, this exchange is perfect. How can you waste your time when the post literally has your blog name on it and goes out there into the world? There is no iffiness, doubt, rejection or ignoring with this strategy because it is the lifeblood of what drives organic traffic and blogging  income.

Blog posts make your blogging business. From gaining targeted exposure to building a loyal blogging community, writing and publishing blog posts consistently is the effective way to reach whatever blogging end you want for your online business.

Look closely at your current promotional strategies. Be 100% honest with yourself. You’ll see what I mean.

Publish the Next Post

Publishing the next post and then the next post promotes the prior posts perfectly. I don’t even necessarily mean linking to the prior posts via new posts. I do mean that reading one blog post organically keeps people on your site. People who spend a good deal of time on site usually click through to prior posts or at least your most popular posts.

At the end of the day, everything keeps people on your blog and leads people back to your blog. Reaching both of these goals is the simplest way to promote your blog.

Never mind the fact that this process unfolds while you are online or offline, sleeping or working, circling the globe or enjoying dinner with your family. Imagine a strategy that promotes for you while you do whatever you want. Content behaves like an employee for the asset-minded blogger.

Peep the Trade-Off

But there is a trade-off. We live in a world of duality. If you want freedom you better put in the work investment. There’s really no such thing as a free lunch in the blogging world. Getting something for nothing does not exist here. Everything is exchange. This blog post only sent you to me because I worked on writing it. This blog post points to prior blog posts on Blogging From Paradise Dot Com because I devoted time and work to write this passive promotional tool.

Promoting your blog through this most effective strategy of creating content demands one to be highly prolific over the long term. Be consistent. Stretch your time frames from months to years. Blogging is a marathon not a sprint.

Publishing a steady volume of long form content makes this strategy go. Doing it for years is the only way to go because you and I have only 24 hours a day to work with.  Nobody can squeeze ten thousand hours into 24 hours. Nobody can squeeze even 25 hours into 24 hours. Most of us require sleep. Most of us enjoy a life outside of blogging. Hence moving back your time frames over years to make this strategy work efficiently.

Promote posts through traditional off-site methods too. Share content on social media. Publish text only content to targeted social media groups. Draw members from these groups to your blog. Guest blog. Publish genuine comments in response to blog posts. Broadcast live. Create helpful content offline to drive individuals to your blog.

Publishing content is still the best way to promote your blog, whether it is on site content or off-site content. Never lose sight of this truth.

Don’t sell your blog short either.

Most bloggers look past this promotional tactic because they devalue their blogs. I did for a while. But valuing my blog inspired me to write and publish the next post. Doing this setup a self-promotional, passive advertising strategy for me while I did other stuff.

Content Does What You Cannot Do

Content does what you cannot do because it does not need to sleep, eat food, drink or rest. Content is non sentient. Blog posts promote your prior posts unlike you ever could with your bodily participation. While you copy and paste links your prior 200, 500 or 10,000 blog posts are doing what you could never do as an individual.

Humble yourself. Park your ego at the curb. Follow through on this strategy as your next step.

So what are you waiting for?
