Being The Hunted not The Hunter feels alien to most of us.

I grew up watching everyone around me work jobs mainly to get money.

My parents did it.

My friends did it.

I did it.

I chased. I did stuff mainly to get stuff.

I worked jobs mainly – OK exclusively – to get money. I did this stuff because I feared going broke. I feared being starving and homeless, unconscious. At the very least, I feared looking like a loser or reject so I worked soul-sucking jobs, chasing money, to engage in pain minimization.

Not exactly a peaceful, abundant, freeing happy life, folks.

I traded 18 hour days for money at a shipping terminal as a security guard. I became disgusted with getting double shifts sprung on me at the last minute. Working from 4 PM to 8 AM sucked.

I never developed posture until I decided to run my own online business as a blogger.

Hell; I never even knew about the concept of establishing posture.

I did not know anything about building an asset to make money while you slept.

Freedom from time and location?

What was that?

I was The Hunter not The Hunted.

I had lots of mind training to do before getting comfortable with the idea of living – and blogging – with:

  • confidence
  • clarity
  • a deep belief in self
  • a firm belief in my online business
  • an eye fixed on freedom from time and location

I learned then experienced that building something truly helpful inspired targeted people to “hunt” you down to:

  • benefit from using the resource
  • value you for your true helpfulness
  • purchase your premium offerings to improve their lives

Doing good old fashioned mind training led to this experience.

I blogged with posture because I thought, felt and acted like a confident blogger who built content-assets that worked for him around the clock.

How Does this Relate to Building Quality Backlinks?

You and I need to engage in mind training to get quality backlinks.

Pretty much all bloggers try to chase links from a fear-based mindset – aka being The Hunter – versus building detailed, targeted, practical content-assets – aka being the Hunted – that drive quality backlinks passively.

Most need to train the mind to migrate from backlink-building like a fraidy cat to blogging abundantly. Building links from abundance conditions you to publish highly-detailed content. Thorough content magnetizes itself to high quality backlinks. Successful bloggers seek out your trusted blog posts and drop trusted links to the credible resources.

While this process unfolds organically, you can sip banana shakes on the beaches of Thailand. Or perhaps cruising around the coast in Southern California works for you.

At any rate, being The Hunted hinges on building a trusted blogging resource that drives:

  • organic traffic
  • high quality backlinks
  • blogging income

passively.

You enjoy freedom from time and location.

The content works for you like an employee from your blogging company.

Thinking this way entails facing, feeling then looking past fear in the mind. Fear goads you to chase successful bloggers to trade links (this strategy never works). Fear influences you to offer a pro blogger $10 USD for a backlink on his blog (this strategy never works).

Facing, feeling then forgiving fear inspires you to blog from love and abundance. Blogging in this fashion compels you to publish long form content consistently.

Detailed resources generate trusted backlinks on their own steam.

How to Do Mindset Training for Building Quality Backlinks

Look closely at your backlink strategy now.

How do you attempt to build links?

Do you email strangers?

Do you chase pro bloggers?

Do you follow up with established bloggers for the 5th time asking for a trade? Or do you pester pros with the “lucrative” $10 USD offer for a link on their trusted blog?

Answering “yes” to any of the above questions reveals that fear dominates your link building strategy.

Pluck that fear out of your mind. Let it go. Rinse, wash and repeat as necessary. Face it. Feel it. Release it.

As you go about building links, this fear surfaces consistently. Like taking showers, practicing emotional hygiene is a consistent endeavor. Bloggers conquer fears scaring them into being The Hunter not overnight but spanning days, weeks, months then years.

Being The Hunted takes a willingness to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Why do few bloggers go pro?

Almost no one takes the heat.

Almost everyone leaves the kitchen.

Transitioning from chasing strangers with failing strategies to publishing thorough content to attract organic traffic, blogging income and high quality links requires you to face, feel and forgive many fears in the mind.

This is a long, winding process.

I had to stop being afraid not by force but observation of mind. I consciously became aware of unconscious fears ruling my backlink building strategy. Observing, embracing then looking past fears slowly guided me to publish posts just like the one you read now. I stopped being heavily afraid, did quality work then gradually became The Hunted based on Blogging From Paradise posts sought through a wide range of channels.

The trusted posts spawned quality backlinks for me organically.

Some credible bloggers linked to my blog without me knowing it. Other successful bloggers interviewed me. Yet other successful bloggers invited me to guest post for them; I took them up on their generous offer.

My content did the heavy lifting.

But I did the heavy lifting consistently to publish detailed content.

I did the inner heavy lifting by facing, hugging and looking past fear to publish trusted content.

The Process Is Sloppy Sometimes

I never want to sugarcoat the inner process.

Mind training is messy at times.

Who enjoys feeling fear?

Who likes admitting their fears?

Chasing people or things to get what you want feels entirely normal in this insane world. Transitioning from insanity to sanity involves facing fear. Conquering fear inspires you to build assets that work for you around the clock.

I understood this process logically.

I did not relish emotionally facing my terror of poverty, my horror of loss and a general, rank fear of failure mixed with a biting fear of criticism.

Welcome to being free in a bound world, folks.

Why do billions depend on jobs and government here?

Billions feel unconsciously terrified to do the inner and external work required to be one of The Hunted few.

Facing and feeling the fear of losing all of your money feels terrifying. Experiencing it feels just as scary.

I had to wade through these perilous inner currents to build assets that worked for me.

I had to face and hug fear to blog predominantly from:

  • love
  • fun
  • abundance
  • posture
  • true helpfulness

You will walk a similar blogging journey if you have not done so already.

Conclusion

Be The Hunted not the Hunter.

Engage in genuine mind training.

Face, feel and look past fear.

Publish detailed blog posts consistently.

Let your blog drive quality backlinks organically.

Respect the length and depth of this process.

Good things take time.

Success takes confident work.

Being truly helpful hinges on walking from terror to confident service within the realm of your mind.
