Why Should You Never Link to Low Quality or Questionable Sites on Your Blog?

I come across bloggers who link to gambling sites.

Other bloggers link inorganically to questionable or low quality sites.

Why?

Bloggers embed low quality links on their sites for a quick, easy pay day.

If you live only for today, this strategy makes perfect sense.

The ego prefers to earn a quick profit now to:

  • pay bills
  • capitalize on opportunities

However, this is always a bad idea because linking to low quality sites:

  • undermines your blogging credibility
  • hurts your reputation
  • destroys long term, exponentially-increasing, heavy income potential

Let’s reviews that last, bolded bullet point.

Reaching the highest blogging circles with:

  • the most successful bloggers collaborating with you
  • the most prospering clients and customers paying premium rates for your products and services
  • the most Google traffic
  • the highest number of features on world famous blogs

means walking the extra mile in terms of quality control.

Few bloggers walk that extra mile; few reach the highest blogging circles.

The optimum level of quality control means linking only to the highest quality, relevant, trusted industry resources and to nothing else.

The split second you link to a gambling site, adult site, an off topic site, a spammy site, a sales-ey business site or a low quality blog you instantly lose quality control. One low quality link hurts your blog far more than you think because that is all it takes to:

  • lessen Google traffic
  • dissolve blogging credibility in the eyes of high level pros who decide not to collaborate with you
  • turn off prospering readers who look past your blog

My Experience

Many years ago I linked to virtually any blog to:

  • get a quick and easy $100, $200 or $300 USD
  • pay bills more easily
  • get return clients who placed links on a regular basis

I accepted guest posts, sponsored posts and even links for money a long time ago.

I always disclosed that I was potentially paid for all links on my blog but eventually saw the massive mistake I had made.

Linking to low quality blogs lessened the quality, credibility and trust factor of my blogs – current and old – in addition to dramatically reducing long term income potential.

You cannot build a high quality blog by linking to low quality, crappy sites.

Every link counts! (Repeat this idea in your mind before taking a quick, easy pay day.)

Years ago, I deleted all low quality links, sponsored content and paid guest posts to rebuild my credibility and to position myself to earn exponentially increasing blogging income over the long haul.

The Biggest Mistake

Pay close attention to many of the highest earning bloggers in the world.

Their income largely depends on linking only to the highest quality blogs.

Linking to gambling sites, adult sites, or other low quality, off topic sites instantly reduces their income potential because low quality links scare off the big money, basically.

Clients who pay premium rates, customers who pay premium prices, high level bloggers who collaborate for profitable joint ventures and prospering communities who collaborate to build exponentially increasing blogging business for professional bloggers quickly dissociate from bloggers who link to low quality blogs.

For example, I stopped following a few bloggers based on said bloggers linking to highly questionable, low quality sites. I do not judge them harshly; anyone can make money however they please. I do not condemn them one bit. I admire their blogging skills, genuinely. But I cannot link to them, guest blog for them or collaborate with them solely because their blog no longer aligns with what I teach and value here on Blogging From Paradise.

I’ve made the same mistake but choose to no longer move in the same direction by promoting their blogs.

As an increasing number of pro bloggers with large, loyal tribes look past your blog, ignore your collaboration requests and move on from your social media chats, your long term, big-time blogging income potential dwindles all because you desired a quick, easy, tiny pay day today.

Is $100 today or $300 next week worth $50,000 years from now?

Is $500 this month worth selling your blog 10 years down the road and living off of your proceeds?

Create a Vision to Get Past the Small Pay Day Mistake

Most bloggers live in survival mode.

The majority have no vision for the future; grabbing a small, quick payday today makes sense when you blog mainly to survive.

Create a vision to cease damaging your credibility, to link only to high level resources and to build a genuinely respected, industry-leading blogging resource with immense long-term potential.

See a bright, freeing future. Be guided by your vision to see beyond a quick pay day today in order to build a high level blog starting right now.

Amateur bloggers who eventually go pro think, feel and blog like pros while still amateurs.

Visionary bloggers only link to the top blogs in their niche when these amateurs have zero readers and net zero profits.

If a gambling site owners offers $300 for a link mention when a blogger lead by their vision starts to get 100 visitors daily, and the amateur has yet to make a penny, this posturing blogger ignores the pitch. Why? Vision-lead bloggers only see their high level blog in the future and realize that a quick, $300 pay day is not worth sacrificing a high level blog down the road.

Would you rather make small or moderate income forever or be free through your blog down the road?

Hey; to each their own.

Do as you please.

But almost every blogger wants freedom because few desire nickel and diming their blogging income for a decade or more.

If you want long term freedom you better stop nickel and diming your blogging income now.

Your Blog Is the Backlink Company that It Keeps

Every blog you link to partially determines your blog’s:

  • reputation
  • credibility
  • industry standing

Do you really want to link to a gambling site?

Do you really want to link to an off-topic, low-quality, spammy site that has nothing to do with your blogging niche?

Do you understand why I only link to Blogging From Paradise courses, eBooks, blog posts and the top blogs in the world in my niche?

$100, $200 or $1000 bucks is not worth my long term, passive freedom over the years.

Conclusion

Never trade quick and easy $100 payments for long-term, exponentially increasing blogging income and freedom.

Do not sacrifice your blogging future just to pay blogging bills today.

Think like a visionary.

Think big.

Stop thinking small.

Become a high level blogger by thinking like one now.
