Quality backlinks feel like manna from blogging heaven.

Everyone wants ’em.

Well at least, most bloggers want high level backlinks.

Why not?

Who wouldn’t?

Credible backlinks:

  • bolster credibility
  • boost organic traffic
  • potentially increase blogging income

Pro bloggers vet you with each backlink. Communities mosey on over to your blog via credible backlinks. Getting backlinks from successful bloggers is a powerful form of referral marketing. Pros say, “You are good.” Perceptions change from there.

But scoring quality backlinks is no small task. You know by now that landing on world famous blogs is quite difficult. High level bloggers keep gatekeepers in place. Top flight pros need to keep their blogging street cred intact. What happens to that cred if a pro points to a low quality blog? Slowly, that rock solid reputation takes a hit. Linking to low quality blogs twice, or 3 times, gradually erodes the reputation to damaging levels in the eyes of discerning readers.

This is why it seems tough to get respected backlinks. Pros never dole out quality backlinks like giving candy to a baby.

Serious practice goes into impressing pros to the point of nabbing a backlink from these blogging big dawgs.

But on a deeper level, mastering the art of publishing truly helpful content is the #1 factor in scoring high level links.

Content inspires pros to link to that content.

Publish Truly Helpful Content

What is truly helpful content?

Content that solves problems in thorough fashion typically falls within this category.

Exhibit A:

How to Start a Blog the Right Way

I did as good a job as I could explaining the steps for starting a blog the right way. I tried not to leave anything out. New bloggers pretty much have a soup to nuts guide for starting a blog here.

Look closely at the post. Respected bloggers link to such posts not because I wrote the post but because the content truly helps their readers.

Credible bloggers also link to blog homepages from time to time. Publishing truly helpful content persistently opens the door to scoring such a link. Pros vet blogs by reading a few blog posts. Kicking the tires for a bit allows your blog to pass the smell test. From there, you score a high level backlink because a pro respected your full body of blogging work.

What Goes into Publishing Truly Helpful Content?

Publish long form content.

Add as many details as possible.

Practice writing to convey your message in easy to understand fashion.

Develop your blogging skills for 1000’s of hours. Put in the work. Put in the time. Practice like the dickens. This process is not easy. This process is not comfortable. Most bloggers never score quality backlinks for quitting this process early during their blogging careers. Few take the blogging heat. Most leave the blogging kitchen. Landing quality links from famous bloggers sounds sexy. Putting in the work does not feel quite as sexy for the fears triggered in the average mind.

Ease through the blogging bumps we all face on the journey. Develop comfort with feeling uncomfortable. Trust the backlink-building process. Master content creation to the point of publishing truly helpful content each time you sit down to write a blog post. Set that goal. Hold that intent.

Practical Tips

  • publish 1200 to 1500 words per blog post
  • select easy to understand titles to convey your promise seamlessly
  • add sufficient practical tips to guide readers through processes
  • create usable content to benefit readers; consider the practical nature of this bullet point list as a clear example
  • format the post for easy reading and/or scanning; use headers, paragraphs, bullet point lists and vary fonts to create free-flowing content
  • embed one or more images for each post to appeal via eye candy
  • publish one post weekly to build your full body of blogging work

Why Is It Hard to Get Quality Backlinks?

Publishing high quality content takes great practice and time.

Most quit due to the at times intolerable nature of fear sprouting from the mind during this time frame.

Most bloggers want quick results within days, weeks or months. How will most bloggers handle the fact that it takes years’ worth of practice to get high quality backlinks from high level bloggers? The masses either quit instantly or make the foolish mistake of seeking shortcuts via manipulative backlink building schemes. Both roads wind up at the same spot: no backlinks scored on high level blogs. All roads lead to failure unless you master the skill of publishing truly helpful content on a regular basis.

Impressing professional bloggers takes great work because pros worked for a long time to go full-time. Impressing full-timers to the point of snagging a backlink from ’em requires even more work, patience and mindfulness. So few bloggers take it to this point. The select few realize that nabbing high level backlinks may be difficult but it is always do-able. There is a practical way to do it. I scored more than a few high level backlinks from world famous bloggers and global brands. If I did it you can too. If I did it then anyone can do it. But following my guidance is key because if you try to do it your way, you will not land high quality backlinks.

Being transparent, “doing it your way” almost always means:

  • taking shortcuts
  • skipping critical steps
  • winging it with harebrained strategies

You are free to follow the bullet point list items above, but each moves you away from gaining high quality backlinks.

Conclusion

Trading schemes do not work.

Manipulative outreach emails do not cut the blogging mustard either.

Publish truly helpful content consistently.

Get quality backlinks by giving quality content to your readers.
