Doha, Qatar
Some bloggers treat their blogs like a dirty little secret.
Family and friends certainly do not know about it.
Not that fam and friends serve as the ideal audience.
Yet even thinking of mentioning your blog triggers embarrassment. Perhaps a healthy dose of shame arises in mind, too.
Fam and friends likely work “real” jobs. Some go to school to begin serious careers. Others spend time doing serious stuff like raising families.
Blogging sounds silly to much of the world. Truth be told, some bloggers paint our gig in a silly light. Said light goes mainstream here and there. Most follow the mainstream, hence the perception spawned by the general public.
Is it any wonder why most bloggers fail?
The blogging masses fear mentioning their blogs to others, let alone their families.
How can you drive organic traffic and income if you fear people discovering your blog?
People need to discover your blog for organic traffic (targeted humans) and blogging income (targeted humans) to come about.
But if you hide your blog from humans no human can find it.
How Do You Perceive Your Blog?
How do you genuinely feel about your blog?
Look at the mind closely. Allow the light of truth to surface. I felt embarrassed about my blog near the beginning of my online career. Family members and friends asked me what I did. Reluctantly, I identified myself as a blogger. Discussions usually quickly progressed towards the normal, day-to-day stuff the average person does. Some family members did not understand how I actually made money through the platform. I explained but with severe discomfort. I felt ashamed about my blog because blogging seemed illegitimate compared to working a “real” 9-5 job as the world perceives it.
Mind training gradually changed my blogging perception.
I became confident in my blog by getting clear of various fears concerning this gig.
But how are you doing in this regard?
Enough about me. What about you?
Do you feel clear enough to mention your blog to anyone from a dominant feeling of peace? Do you feel confident discussing your blog with everyone from skeptical strangers to familiar friends? Lacking full confidence reveals fears for facing, feeling and looking past. Those sneaky fears injure your blog far more than you currently realize.
Shame, embarrassment and a general sense of discomfort reveal how one part of your mind hides your blog away from the world. People hide what people feel ashamed about. Re-read the “dirty little secret” line above. So you hide your blog from potential loyal readers, customers and clients.
How do you think that will work out for you?
Not too well, I think.
One part of your mind wants to succeed.
But the dominant part does unintelligent things to hide your blog which facilitates failure.
Most of this occurs on an unconscious level.
You are likely not even aware of it; until you read this blog post and follow my guidance.
How to Trigger these Fears
Leave your blogging comfort consistently.
Edging into discomfort triggers fears fueling discomfort.
Common fears like:
- the fear of being criticized
- the fear of failing
- embarrassment
- shame
- deserving/worthiness issues
pop up in the mind the moment one leaves their blogging comfort zone.
Never sprint from these emotions. Stand your ground. Watch the feelings. Feel the emotions. Forgive or look past the emotions.
Become more confident by gradually triggering, watching, feeling and forgiving your fears. Respect this career-long process but prep yourself to do steady inner work on the front end and little on the back end. Conquering your fears in the beginning leaves fewer fears to conquer as you practice this process.
Have You Ever Noticed a Genuinely Bold Blogger?
Bold bloggers seem rare.
Few brim with confidence.
Getting clear involved following this process – often unconsciously – for most bold bloggers. Some enjoy a seamless life script to be bold naturally but rare indeed is this tiny lot. Most bloggers need to feel and look past fear to dissolve confidence-strangling emotions.
Everything feels better for those who follow this mental protocol. I promise.
I can mention my blog peacefully in any circle.
I can share my blog confidently.
But I practiced the above process diligently for a while to reach this point.
What Is the Upside?
Viewing your blog with:
- clarity
- confidence
- peace
influences bloggers to gracefully look past everyone save those desiring their genuine help.
Critics become speed limit signs one passes at 90 MPH. Doubters flow in and out like the tide. Who cares, if no fear in your mind resonates with their fears? Non-matches are to be looked past instantly and peacefully to make room for:
- loyal readers
- customers
- clients
- new readers
- referral traffic builders
- referral business builders
No need to explain what a blog is to an unclear person when clear people knock down your cyber door to read your blog.
This is the ultimate upside.
Viewing your blog with a calm, inner confidence sends to you resonant readers who also feel confident in your blog.
Respect the mirror effect of life.
Fighting, convincing or blocking a steady flow of critics mirrors your lack of blogging confidence and clarity to you. Commit to the process in this post to put the unclear crowd behind you and to build a loyal tribe who deeply values your content.
Whatever you appear to see out there is really the contents of your mind.
This practice proves it.
This is why at the beginning, most bloggers experience an awful time trying to discuss their blogs comfortably. Almost all harbor strong conscious and unconscious fears concerning their blogs.
Follow this basic tactic to stir those up pronto.
Leave your comfort zone consistently.
View your blog in a clear, confident light.
Position yourself to succeed by aligning with clear readers confident in your blog.
PS….make sure to create helpful content onsite and offsite consistently. Putting in consistent work does play a chief role in the success equation.
