I want to offer you a basic guideline for getting your blog found online.
Do I even need to stress the pain point that goaded you to click on this title?
Every blogger has feared that nobody would find their blogs. We all blog for a chorus of crickets from time to time before doing consistent, intelligent work which sends a steady stream of interested humans to our cyber real estate.
I have been there.
You have been there.
Hell; perhaps you still are there.
Worry not.
Follow these simple – albeit at times uncomfortable – steps to get your blog discovered.
People will find it as you:
- navigate through intimately personal fears
- follow the fundamentals below
First things first; follow this most critical and temporarily unpleasant step to take that has nothing to do with practical blogging action.
A1: Face the Fears in Your Mind Causing the Problem
Lock yourself in a quiet room.
Calm your mind.
Face, feel and look past fears in your mind creating the problem.
Your body is a puppet at the command of your mind. Most of us live unconsciously. We just do stuff mindlessly then blame the world for our lot in life. Does this make sense? Hell no. But the world does not make sense. The few minds who think right side up in an upside down thinking world emanate peace and worldly success if the individuals seek it.
Peaceful individuals experience how the mind creates the experience. Everything here happens inside out not outside in.
Action or inaction begins in mind. Obstacles or a freaking blogging freeway begins in mind. Fear is in the mind not the world out there.
Your blog gets no love because you harbor some fears concerning thoughts, feelings and actions necessary to gain blogging exposure. You cannot escape this truth. Maybe you unconsciously hide your blog. Critics feel terrifying to encounter. Or becoming successful can cause friends or family members to reject you. Maybe taking on responsibility scares the crap out of you. In any case, the mind needs to be investigated to feel and look past fears holding your blog back.
Chipping away at your fears makes it far easier to follow the steps below consistently. Following each step consistently gives your blog the exposure it deserves.
Be careful about your unconscious resistance to peace, success and freedom. Right now, you likely want to skip this step to get into the blogging nitty gritty beginning with step #1 below. But fear in your mind creates resistance to consistently, intelligently, confidently and patiently following steps #1 to #4 for 500 to 1000 hours then to 5000 hours and longer. WHOOPS! Did those numbers scare you? BINGO! THAT is why you cannot skip this step; that fear is in your mind not in inanimate numbers of the world.
After you patiently work this step just proceed to the practical blogging strategies below.
1: Publish Long Form Blog Posts
Publish blog posts roughly 1000 to 1200 words – or longer – to drive organic traffic.
Detailed content usually ranks on Google.
But more than that, thorough content earns reader trust because stepping readers from problem to solution:
- lowers your bounce rate
- increases referral traffic
Add practical tips to guide followers from issues to solutions. Inject sugary sweet benefits into content.
Be detail-oriented. Leave nothing out.
Being thorough puts your blog on the radar screen.
Humans want practical solutions; this is why they read blogs.
Be a solution provider to gain exposure in front of prying eyes.
2: Target One Reader
Pick one niche.
Specialists win.
Generalists get lost in the cacophony of noise plaguing the world.
Do one thing to do it well. Be a trusted specialist not a forgotten generalist who is a jack of all trades but masters none.
Single niche bloggers get noticed because doing only one thing sends a loud and clear message to readers. People understand specifically:
- what you do
- how you help them
Lawyers and doctors do not hold five part time jobs. Each gives full professional attention and energy to mastering one craft. Big bucks follow.
Pro bloggers do not attempt to cover five niches in a world of full-time bloggers who master a single niche inside-out.
Be seen.
Be heard.
Cover a single niche to cover it well.
Develop topical authority to drive referral traffic from readers who know an expert when they see one.
3: Promote Fellow Bloggers from Your Niche on Social Media
Being seen partially hinges on helping friends with no strings attached who organically:
- promote your blog on social media
- drop backlinks to your blog
What are the key ideas here?
- “no strings attached”
- “organically”
This is not a business agreement, folks.
Genuinely and generously help fellow bloggers. Share their content on X and Facebook. Perhaps you can drop a backlink to their blog if you both cover the same niche.
Allow bonds to form organically.
Be patient. Be detached.
Blogging buddies gradually promote your blog in front of their trusting communities.
4: Chat with Social Media Users Who Support Your Work
I figure this is about the easiest thing to do for acquiring blogging exposure.
Talk to people who love what you do.
Drop genuine comments. Thank readers. Ask readers questions. Answer readers with detailed replies or with links to detailed blog posts.
Give yourself a few minutes daily – or every few days – to stop by X and Facebook for replying to users who share your stuff or engage you.
Being highly social generates exposure for your social media handles and blog.
Appreciative readers become return readers.
Grateful readers drive referral traffic.
Why Did I Leave Google Out?
Do you follow this blog for me to rehash what 5 million bloggers have advised 20 million times?
I never mean to be harsh but I am honest. Besides; I already covered that one in a dedicated post.
Google is a viable traffic source for sure but following steps A1, 1 and 2 gets you there, by and large.
Your mind is the answer. Not Google.
Your blog posts are the answer. Not Google.
Never look to idols for solutions to internal problems solved by mind training and taking care of home base.
Work on your blog.
Engage like-minded folks on social media.
Get blogging exposure by following these fundamentals.
Conclusion
Be seen by being truly helpful.
Be genuine.
Be generous.
Engage your loyal community.
The right people will find your blog.
