Do you view your blog as an extension of yourself?
Being authentic earns credibility.
Blogging from the heart establishes connection.
I never look at my blog as something to rank on Google.
Look at my posts to see the evidence.
I consider my blog to be an extension of myself. Framing my blog in this fashion allows me to be authentic. Being authentic connects me with similar readers. I also sleep well at night. My conscience feels clear.
Flip Side
On the flip side of things, bloggers try to get money from people through their blogs. Can there be a less genuine approach? Did you ever feel like being squeezed by a boa constrictor with pop ups?
Look closely at most blogs. Do most feel like an extension of a genuine human being? Or do you get the sneaking suspicion that someone wants to squeeze money out of you? Perhaps you believe the individual wants to squeeze a subscriber sign up out of you.
As always, every blogger is entitled to get. But the nature of the getting makes all the difference in the world.
People Are Not Themselves
When someone wants something from you they are not themselves. Bloggers who want to get something from you can never be authentic. This is why making your blog an extension of your thoughts is important. You detach from outcomes which makes you honest.
Being honest makes you credible. Being credible builds a strong readership of like-minded people. Blogging in this fashion prospers you.
The genuine blogger does succeed. Never trust the ego. The ego tells you that lying to readers is the only way to get money from them. The ego tells you that being truthful means that you will finish last. If these ideas sound incredible just look at traditional business building advice to see their truth.
The world is confusing because advice offered here conflicts. Someone tells you to be honest. Someone else says that being honest means the boom of your blogging business because you need to tell people what they want to hear to get money from them.
Put Foolishness in the Rear View
Making your blog an extension of you puts this foolishness in your rear view window. Not only will you succeed but the added benefit of sleeping well at night is the cherry on top.
I prefer to do things ethically because anything else opens up a can of blogging worms. My blog is an extension of my thoughts. People who come along and criticize my blog do not bother me. Why is that? Why would someone bother me if I’m being honest?
Bloggers become disturbed by critics because the criticism presses on a nerve. Not being true to yourself brings critics out of the woodwork. A critical reader upsets you because you think they speak the truth. That’s why you want to fight them. That’s why it feels embarrassing. That’s why you feel ashamed. That’s why you second guess yourself.
Being genuine by making your blog your extension dissolves all of those feelings instantaneously. You’re not faking it to make it anymore when your blog is your thoughts. Nor do you feel upset when a critic lies to you because you know their lies have everything to do with them and nothing to do with your genuine blog.
What an Upside
Is there a greater upside to telling the truth through your blog? Imagine becoming successful peacefully. Imagine if criticism rolled off of you like water off of a duck’s rear end. Imagine if you had no investment in what people thought of you. Picture yourself using the blog just to help like-minded people and to look past everyone else.
Mentally, this post is for advanced bloggers because it goes completely beyond trying to get traffic and money from people. I have no problems with either goal. Yet trying to get something from someone removes your genuine nature. How can your blog be an extension of you if it is designed as a getting mechanism? Do you see what I mean? Telling people what they want to hear (for profits) is not being honest.
Write how you speak. Write how you live. Let it all hang out without caring what people will think, say or do in response to you being you. People who think just like you will become your loyal readers. Some may become customers. Some may drive referral traffic and referral business to your blog.
You can have your full-time career while blogging from the heart because of resonance. Like-minded people will support you on your journey. The only bloggers who hit the road are critics who weren’t your readers anyway. Is that really a loss?
Being genuine through your blog drives people who think like you to your blog. Few bloggers understand this. Being honest grows an honest community around your blog. Success will gradually follow.
Do the Inner Work
Do the inner work. Blog from your divine center. Be truly helpful by being honest. Talk about the ups and downs of your blogging niche. Share your wins and losses. Talk about struggles and successes. Real people do this. Honest human beings engage in these types of discussions in the offline world. Do this through your blog. Be a real person who provides helpful content.
Believe it or not, you will become most successful by being 100% transparent. Having nothing to hide makes you fearless. Fearless people tend to become wildly successful in their niche because nothing in their mind holds them back.
This is why it’s incredibly important to make your blog an extension of your genuine thoughts.
Succeed with peace of mind.
Doesn’t it make sense to have the best of both worlds?
Surround yourself with genuine bloggers to let them rub off on you. Appreciate their style. Bask in the glow of their free spirit.
Begin blogging from your heart through osmosis by networking with genuine bloggers.
Attract their like-minded readers to your blog.
Thrive peacefully.
