Successful bloggers write consistently.
Pros do not necessarily post more than once a week. Some do. Some do not. Most write like the dickens though. Pros go pro for a good reason.
Highly skilled, credible bloggers with massive exposure before a targeted audience go full-time. Writing diligently develops skills and cred leading to big-time exposure gains.
How often do you write?
I mean, really?
Do you write daily? Do you write thousands of words daily? No one *needs* to do so. But if pros do it – and you don’t – you will be lapped by this committed lot.
As the saying goes…..“Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard.”
I’ve observed thousands of talented bloggers who come and go like the tide.
I’ve seen a few relentless bloggers who practice writing consistently for a decade or more; this sliver of blogging humanity reaches the top of their respective niche. Every time.
How I Blogging Roll/Write
I wrote thousands of words today. I wrote thousands of words yesterday. I wrote millions of words during my blogging career.
Bloggers write.
Writing is my core skill to develop.
If I cannot write I cannot blog.
Simple correlation here.
Why would I scrimp?
I am only as good as my writing.
Some posts become popular.
Some posts flop.
But I write.
I write:
- blog posts
- blog comments
- X updates
- Facebook updates
- LinkedIn updates
- Blue Sky updates
- email updates
Writing is THE blogging skill to develop. Yet few bloggers write consistently.
Is this one of those head-scratching deals?
Hell yeah.
Bloggers resisting developing the one skill needed more than any to go pro.
This makes no sense.
But it is a common blogging error.
Do You Recall Going through this Blogging Scenario?
Does this scenario sound familiar?
- write a detailed blog post
- schedule the post
- distribute the post after it goes live
- stop writing until next week
- repeat the process next week
What happens during the five days you take off from writing?
I wrote 5,000 plus words. I probably wrote 10,000 to 20,000 plus words. I may or may not publish one blog post daily. But I polish my writing skills.
Polishing my writing skills makes publishing one post daily a breeze if I so choose.
I do not compete with you. However, keeping pace with prolific bloggers becomes difficult unless you write consistently. Typically, bloggers who rarely write slam face first into writer’s block. Words seem elusive not because words are elusive. What is the culprit? Doing something infrequently makes it difficult to do.
Pro Bloggers Put in the Writing Reps
Skilled people practice their ass off. Skilled bloggers write their ass off.
Writing consistently develops your:
- skills
- credibility
Skilled, credible bloggers who become prolific gain massive exposure.
I am just getting my blogging momentum back after pumping the brakes for a while. After after nabbing 8,000 views two weeks ago and about 13,000 views last week it seems like Blogging From Paradise generated some exposure. I am back on the blogging radar screen again.
Why?
Writing consistently – once again – inspired me to turn the blogging corner.
Do You Write as Often as Possible?
I recall best selling author John Grisham writing for five minutes before work daily. He was a busy lawyer not a best selling author at that point. Establishing a writing habit worked nicely for him.
Busy student bloggers need to write. Busy stay at home mom bloggers need to write. Busy employees need to write. Set aside 10 minutes today. Practice writing. Write about anything. Recount your day. Set up an outline for your next blog post. Drop a genuine comment below; 21,000 views in two weeks offers your blog some exposure. Why would you not take advantage of that? I allow legitimate blog backlinks, folks! Not many bloggers do that anymore.
How Often Do You Write?
Daily?
Weekly?
Monthly?
Every two months?
Don’t be shy. Don’t be embarrassed. Fess up. Or celebrate.
Proceed to write your rear end off if you have a spare few hours today. Or if you deeply value your blog.
Blogging Is No Afterthought
Never treat your blog as an afterthought. Commit to blogging. Be all in every single day.
Committed bloggers practice writing no matter what. Future pros practice writing for 10 minutes or 10 hours. Not that you need to practice writing for 10 hours daily. I do not necessarily recommend practicing this much. But who am I to stop you?
Write 500-1000 words daily.
Practical Ideas
- write your next blog post
- drop genuine blog comments
- drop genuine social media comments
- create content for social media
- write offline
Dictate posts to change things up. Organize your thinking. Speak words instead of writing.
Do whatever it takes to practice moving words from the mind to the phone or laptop.
However you do it just practice writing today.
Why Do You Need to Practice Writing?
I care little how confident you claim to be.
You and I harbor tender inner weaknesses. We worry. We doubt ourselves. We doubt our blogs.
Writing consistently cuts through worry, self-doubt and blogging anxieties.
Writing diligently boosts your blogging confidence. Prolific bloggers get clear on their direction. Ship frequently to find your groove.
My blogging success momentum grew after following a daily writing habit. Prior to that I picked apart my work. I felt riddled by self-doubt. I rarely felt confident enough to publish a blog post. I definitely did not distribute new content aggressively. Why would I? I feared critics. Gaining exposure meant being skewered by mentally injured individuals who pressed on my tender inner weaknesses.
I:
- became disgusted with my struggles
- wrote my tuckus off
- gained blogging confidence
- let criticism roll off of me like water off of a duck’s rump
Writing consistently put this inner process into motion.
Practice Writing Versus Dawdling
Back burner scrolling on social media.
Look past your favorite streaming service.
Prioritize blogging.
Practice writing today.
Write as often as possible.
Get clear.
Gain confidence.
Factor writing into your distribution plan. Craft detailed text-based updates for Facebook and LinkedIn. Write as often as possible.
Add depth to blog posts. Aim for 1200 words per post. Write as often as you can.
Write offline. Open a pad. Grab a pen.
If you do not write consistently you will fall behind bloggers who do.
Write!
