7 Reasons Why Using AI to Write Full Blog Posts Is a Bad Idea

  January 18, 2023 blogging tips 🕑 6 minutes read

Athens, Greece.

I do not see any clear pros for bloggers who use artificial intelligence to write and publish full posts with some human editing included.

The main reason being this: any pro I’ve seen discussed is fear manifest as greed and desperation.

How can I say that acting from greed and desperation benefits you and your readers?

Sorry; no can do.

Before I proceed I want to stress a few points.

Three things:

  • I just landed in Greece; thank goodness I didn’t slide (corny humor alert)
  • I do not intend to bitch out AI via this post as a dependable way to augment your blogging campaign in supplemental, light fashion; go for that, if it doesn’t put your knickers into a knot

AI may be improving but it is a bad idea to use this artificial technology to write your blog posts.

There you are. I said it.

Ever since I landed in Athens a few hours ago I feel clearer. I feel more confident. More than anything, I am losing the fear of sharing private thoughts, the fear fueling people pleasing and the general idea that it’s taboo to blog contrarian to what some pro bloggers are teaching, using and promoting to accelerate their success.

Thanks, international travel. Once again, you remind me to step away from the herd and to be true to me.

Anyway….

Why is it a bad idea to use AI to write full blog posts?

What are the ultimate reasons against ai blogging?

Blogging Courses

All illusions eventually collapse in dramatic fashion.

Fear manifest as greed, desperation and the asinine desire to get something for nothing motivates some bloggers to make excuses for using AI to write full posts like:

  • “It is easy.”
  • “It works.”
  • “It is improving at a quick enough rate to fool people more consistently.”
  • “It is a good investment.”
  • “It is improving quickly enough to fool Google sooner than later.”

Each argument rests on a foundation of quicksand. Eventually, the 7 reasons below guarantee that AI will collapse and bloggers who use artificial intelligence to write and volume publish full posts will disappear after losing their reputation.

Blogging eBooks

Bloggers beware; you will regret using AI for each reason below.

1: You Are Lying

Anytime you associate your name with a blog post it means that you wrote the blog post.

If you use AI to write a blog post but affix your name you are lying to your readers.

Liars run into all types of blogging nightmares. Blogging liars lose everything eventually because success hinges on trust. Lose trust and you lose all traffic, readers and blogging income.

Write your own posts. Tell the truth. Gain trust. Succeed.

I wrote every blog post on BFP. I wrote every eBook and created my two blogging courses. Feel free to check out the eBooks and courses (click the links above) to see a human being blogging teacher in action.

I sleep well at night because thought my winding blogging journey I simply and intimately did all the work I sign my name too.

The moment you lie, you break a promise to yourself to act with integrity.

Dicey situations follow along with some pretty bad emotions arising in your mind.

2: AI Is Immoral

Using AI to write full posts is selfish because you only think about your traffic and income versus you addressing the needs of your readership, outsourcing that precious job to….drum roll please….something that does not exist.

I have yet to see a blogger who argues for AI explain that this artificial content is the most detailed, in-depth, heartfelt, informative and bursting at the seams valuable content for their readers. The argument is almost always egocentric, self-centered, selfish and flat out immoral.

Anytime you focus exclusively on your needs and completely ignore the need of others you behave in immoral fashion.

3: AI Is Unethical

Writing full posts with AI is certainly not of a high moral standard, established per the prior reason.

Drilling deeper, human beings generally agree based on social norms that a blogger:

  • writes their own content
  • publishes their own content
  • gains credibility by writing and publishing their own content

The split second you use an artificial, not real, soulless program to spin blog content you become unethical.

4: AI Is Not Real

Artificial intelligence is not real.

AI does not exist.

AI appears to be real. Of course it seems real. But it is artificial. Soulless, mindless and non-sentient, it takes words and re-arranges to create the illusion of a blog post.

Using something not real but claiming the blog post to be real leads to a shit load of…..

5: Potential Legal Implications

How quickly will a tsunami of lawsuits drown AI bloggers when irate:

  • readers
  • customers
  • clients

sue for fraud?

Fraud is a wrongful deception to gain in some way, shape or form, typically financial.

Ummmm….when your blog generates income you achieve financial gain.

Ummmm….when you deceive readers by claiming to publish posts in fact spun by an artificial thing you bought for $40 per month you better believe enraged readers, customers and clients will sue the pants off of you.

6: Full Disclosure and Complete Credibility Loss Is on the Way

The moment you need to disclose that posts are AI-generated you will completely lose blogging credibility.

Who trusts a blogger who does not blog?

This is one of the most compelling reasons against ai blogging. Human bloggers write and publish posts. If you use something that does not exist to “write” posts how can you call yourself a blogger?

In a way, I almost cannot believe that I need to write this blog post. Why do I need to stress that you will eventually need to disclose AI and in so doing will lose all credibility?

Unfortunately, fear blinds you to what’s right in front of your eyes. Scared bloggers afraid to miss out cannot clearly see that they will miss out on a shit ton more than ai-generated traffic and income.

This crowd will lose their traffic and business once human readers find out that a $40 per month no-thing has been re-organizing words to “inform, educate and entertain them”….which brings us to…..

How in God’s name do you expect people to trust a blogger who uses a no-thing to order words and then signs their name on a blog post?

Wake up, sleep-walking bloggers.

Save yourself now.

7: Entrusting Your Business and Brand to a $40 Per Month No-Thing Is Reckless and Asinine

Would you trade your online business for a $40 to $50 or even $100 per month no-thing?

Do I need to even ask another question?

Visualize $40 per month.

Imagine paying $40 per month for a no-thing that does not exist to build your entire reputation, business, lifestyle and freedom.

Building a skyscraper on a foundation of pudding sounds like a more intelligent idea than the blogging ding dongs who “trust” 40 clam, non-existent, alleged algorithms to fully “write” blog posts that are the core of their rep, biz, lifestyle and freedom.

Conclusion

Don’t do it guys.

Write your own posts.

I hope these reasons against ai blogging convinced you.

If not….good luck!

Yeah, I just can’t see how AI is going to improve quality of content by replacing human creators. There may well be interesting uses of the tool. Composition of helpful and insightful articles? I am more than a little skeptical. GIGO. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

We will see going forward but nothing good appears to be arising, long-term, from the trend, as far as ethically-gained blogging advantages. We shall see.

Good to see you here Bubbie.

  3. Erika Mohssen-Beyk says:

You are right, Ryan; it is unethical, and it will not take long until one loses the right feeling to write good content, especially the less experienced bloggers. Instead of improving, they will lose.
Or do we want a world where we only interact with automats and robots?
    Some may choose it 🙂
    We will see
    Thank you for your thoughts.

Far few AI-pushing bloggers have thought this one through Erika. Makes no sense to me.

    Hi Ryan,

I appreciate your blunt and honest reasons here 🙂 I have always said that before we worry about “artificial” intelligence, “human” intelligence needs a lot of work LOL I am sure it can be useful as a tool perhaps for ideas or getting started. Still, nothing replaces the human touch when it comes to authenticity.

    • Ryan Biddulph says:
      at 5:41 pm

I agree 100% Julie. AI can foster ideas but good, old fashioned mind power makes everything go in a genuine direction.

    Hi Ryan,

My head is stuck on the word “artificial” or to me, “fake.” Hmmm 🤔 Myself or my work has never been accused of THAT before!!

It’s been the wild wild west since I popped into digital quite awhile ago now (9+yrs) and it continues to evolve as a new frontier since.
Besides AI, what’s your take on Web3, the Metaverse, blockchain, and digital currency?

    A lot to contemplate…

    Best, Sue-Ann

    • Ryan Biddulph says:
      at 2:47 am

Genuinely Sue-Ann….I follow none of it LOL. All is an illusion to me because even though it appears to be real, it is not Spirit, not real. I overlook it and set my own trends here on BFP with our tribe. The LAST thing your work is, is artificial!!!

I agree with you, Ryan. It’s important to acknowledge that AI is a tool and it can be used to augment human capabilities, but it should not replace human creativity and authenticity. AI can be used to generate ideas, research and fact check but not to replace the voice and the personal touch of a human blogger.

    • Ryan Biddulph says:
      at 2:45 am

Yep yep Lara. Humans for the win. 🙂

This is how I feel about it too. I think a lot of people will see short-term gains, but it is going to be short-lived for sure. People think I am being too “precious” about it but … nah 😉

    • Ryan Biddulph says:
      at 1:52 am

Short-sightedness is never sensed by the short-sighted LOL 🙂

  8. Erik Emanuelli says:
    at 8:38 am

Those are all valid points, Ryan.
But sometimes the world is not moving around based on moral principles.

I recently read that using AI is not against Google, per se, if the content is primarily user-focused.
In fact, in the Spam section, Google states that it’s against their policies:

“Text generated through automated processes without regard for quality or user experience”

Also, check this tweet by Danny Sullivan:
    https://twitter.com/dannysullivan/status/1589681355868504064

    The most important point is:
“We haven’t said AI content is bad. We’ve said, pretty clearly, content written primarily for search engines rather than humans is the issue. That’s what we’re focused on. ”

    What do you think, buddy?

    • Ryan Biddulph says:
      at 9:10 am

AI-generated articles – like, using AI to write a full post – will collapse Erik but only because of the fear-greed-desperation running as an undercurrent.

All the reasoning from Google, established bloggers and even the world in general has fear beneath it.

The lawsuits will come….especially for fraud….and these AI companies will be bankrupted.

Imagine walking into a doctor’s office with a medical condition. He tells you from the intercom that he sees you from behind a mirror; he diagnoses you. You go home, get even more sick and suffer horribly. Then you realize through legally-demanded disclosure that AI, not a human, *made* the diagnosis.

      Lawsuits.

Now, imagine reading Blogging From Paradise. A guy who wears gym clothes publishes all this content, self-publishes eBooks and courses, and claims to help you life a life of travel through blogging. Then you realize through legally-demanded disclosure that AI, not a human, *made* the content.

      Lawsuits.

Fraud will take it down legally but it’ll die in the court of public opinion.

With that in mind, these companies are clever. Some use big seed money to blast their message. I give them credit. But unfortunately for them, fear is still their prime driver and as we have seen over the centuries, the greedy, desperate and lazy cannot outrun their intent-motive.

Thanks for the question and comment Erik, as always!

      Much love.

      Signing off from Crete.

PS….I did a quick layover in Milan last week. Beautiful place!

Wow, that’s a long set of thoughts, Ryan.

Only time will tell what happens with AI concerning content creation, right?

I’m really curious what will be the future of Google, blogging, and AI, all together.

I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me, buddy.

And you should have sent me a message, before your quick visit to Milan.

I would have loved to meet you. 🙂

    Hello Ryan,

I have been reading your posts for the past week and enjoyed them. I completely agree with you on the cons of using AI to write blog posts.

As a young SEO, I believe authenticity and integrity are keys to building trust with readers and ultimately succeeding in the blogging world.

I also appreciate your honesty about your own experiences and beliefs.

    Thanks,

Being authentic and having integrity are the only ways to feel good, peaceful and relaxed while succeeding online Agha. Good job my friend. You’re off to a great start.

There is the issue of AI becoming a search engine rather than a tool to complete university assignments. And once that happens, the SEO game is going to be so different. Already, coders are using ChatGPT to address certain issues instead of trying to find solutions on Google. I wonder if GPT-4 will enhance this.

There are so many possibilities we’ve yet to witness, so I am actually pretty excited by the technology. And this is coming from someone whose job might be taken over, lol.

The reason why I think people shouldn’t use AI to fully write their blog posts is because it’s the most inane thing someone can do with the technology. I see great applications for it in anything to do with data.

Thanks for this interesting post, Ryan!

As long as we remember that it is not real, Stuart, we are good.

The issue of AI generated content is very subjective and can’t be settled today. It might not be a thing today but I believe it will in the future. The world is full of tech and not easy to be predicted.

For my colleague content writers, what I can say is that it is better for you to learn how these AIs work but entirely rely on it. You need to conduct a research as AI don’t usually do that. Some information they provide are not accurate.

In order not to piss of your readers, please go the extra mile to put out there quality contents.

    • Ryan Biddulph says:
      at 6:45 am

Humans are the ultimate content creators Abdul.

Hey ryan, this is insightful. AI is in its learning phase and will take time to evolve. Still, it may not have to capacity to read or put emotions into writing. So, as of now its not a good ideas to fully be dependent on it.

    • Ryan Biddulph says:
      at 3:30 am

Cool Mansimran great to see you here.
