More blog traffic is not the goal.

Organic blog traffic is the bullseye.

The world confuses you.

Everyone new to business believes that becoming popular means becoming rich.

Get a ton of people to see your business. Use whatever means necessary to nab those eyeballs. Cash in big-time.

Bloggers typically give in to this temptation.

Failure follows.

Organic blog traffic is the only worthy goal.

All other traffic goals waste your time.

Do you want a heavy volume of traffic?

At first that sounds like the solution.

Does big traffic mean big money?

No.

Driving random blog traffic does little for you.

Imagine 10,000 people walking in and out of a revolving door daily. No one enters the store. No one buys anything. No one refers your store to like-minded customers. No like-minded customers refer your store to other like-minded customers.

Seeking more blog traffic means that you already lost. Perhaps this seems not to be the case at first. Excitement grows as numbers rise quickly. But something tricky happens in the background. You lost sight of the goal. You missed the bullseye. More is not quality. Big numbers are big numbers not a highly targeted human being who becomes the cornerstone of your loyal community.

What Happens to Number Chasers?

What happens when you chase big numbers?

Targeting does NOT happen.

What happens if you do not target blog traffic?

No one:

  • sticks around your blog
  • buys your premium products
  • refers your premium products to like-minded people

Focus on the End Game

Organic traffic is the only goal.

Attract interested folks to your blog.

Magnetize the right person to your blog.

Blog with discernment. Be picky. Exclude the masses to include only people who thirst for your specific content solutions.

Target people. Create content for one specific reader. Optimize everything for this person.

Drive quality blog traffic. Guarantee that people who find your blog want to be there. Focus on quality over quantity. Forget chasing more random people. Pinpoint everyone who knocks on your cyber door.

Earn blogging income by helping people who want your help. Customers want your free and premium content because you set your blog up to attract this particular individual. No matter how hard you work at chasing big numbers, growing a thriving blogging business happens no other way. Sorry.

How do you attract these people to your blog?

Publish targeted blog posts to solve specific problems suffered by readers in your niche.

Create detailed solutions. Gain credibility. Drive organic traffic.

Commit to creating detailed content.

Draw committed readers to your blog.

Whatever you give flows back to you like a blogging boomerang.

Do detailed-oriented work to attract detailed-oriented, committed, loyal readers to your blog.

Make the Shift

Never give into page one temptations.

I Googled “how to target blog traffic”.

None of the page one results explained how to target blog traffic. Each blog post dissected how to drive more blog traffic. Increasing traffic and targeting traffic require different skill sets.

Google tempts you to get more traffic even if you query “how to target blog traffic”. That should tell you something.

The world wants more even if you ask the most reputable search engine how to target. Google f*cked that one up. Unfortunately, the Big G has screwed up this targeting query for months. I check in sometimes to see if the algorithm corrected the error. As of this post publish date, not yet.

Consider the red flag. Google – the seemingly trusted solution – screws this up. Most bloggers follow.

Don’t be most bloggers.

Target blog traffic.

Attract interested readers.

Draw people who want your solutions to your blog.

Drive customers and clients to your blog.

Stop chasing more traffic.

Target everyone.

Targeted People Not Numbers Build Business

Big traffic numbers mean nothing.

One targeted person beats 10,000 random visitors.

10,000 random people visit your blog then bounce because none want your offering.

One targeted person:

  • reads three blog posts
  • purchases your eBook
  • refers your blog to like-minded people

The like-minded people read two blog posts. Three buy your eBook. This crowd refers your blog to ten like-minded people.

The process continues.

This is how to become a full-time blogger.

Start by targeting everything. Drive one highly interested person to your blog. From there, referral traffic and referral income mushroom over the months then years.

Organic Traffic Is Slow But Dependable

The world wants fast, unreliable, random blog traffic.

But all of these people enter and exit the revolving door without entering the store.

Organic traffic is slow but reliable.

One or two targeted people show up here and there. But those few folks buy your stuff, stick around and follow all of your blog posts.

Reliable traffic establishes a granite-like foundation for your online business. Who cares if organic traffic flows slowly to your blog? Organic traffic is the only traffic that you want.

Be patient. Set one clear target. Aim for one bullseye. Resist the urge to chase random people. Stop trying to score big numbers. Never give in to the temptation of chasing “more”.

Consider this Extreme Example

I followed a well-known blogger on social media for a bit.

He accrued 600,000 followers.

Each update generated 1-2 Likes.

Why?

The 600,000 followers had almost zero interest in his content.

1-2 targeted human beings tapped the “Like” button for his updates. But who even knows if these people originated from his follower base?

He generated a heavy volume of social media churn. 600,000 followers did not advance his:

  • organic blog traffic
  • blogging income
  • referral traffic
  • referral income

Imagine if he had ten highly targeted followers on social media.

The world would not be impressed with his ten followers.

But his organic traffic and blogging income would have jumped instantly courtesy of his organic social media growth.

Seek quality over quantity in traffic terms.

Drive organic blog traffic.

Let go of the “more” dis-ease.
