I struggled for a bit to find the right blog post publishing frequency.
Every established blogger told me to choose quality over quantity.
That made sense to me.
Everyone guided me to choose one over the other.
I agreed with the general logic.
Do a thorough job. Target blog posts for your ideal reader.
Increase blogging income.
Pump the breaks on publishing a heavy quantity of thin content.
Do a smash-up, detailed job to make every post count.
I believed this popular advice until I attended an internet marketing conference in NYC in 2016.
Blogging Wake Up Call
A 7 figure blogger who received up to 1000 emails daily shared his blogging strategy.
He:
- published 2-3 long form, detailed, targeted posts daily
- engaged in genuine outreach by building relationships with professionals who handled syndication for world famous brands
He chose quality and quantity.
He selected both.
The 7 figure blogger also engaged in genuine outreach to enhance his quality and quantity blogging approach.
The first year or so appeared to be a growth phase. Consider this to be a nice away of saying he barely made any money.
Yet he eventually made millions of dollars through blogging.
All established bloggers who advised that I pick quality over quantity experienced sweet worldly success. None were wrong for offering this popular form of blogging guidance. But none made millions through blogging and received up to 1000 emails daily, like the blogger who thought differently than the blogging masses.
Challenge Popular Blogging Advice
Challenge popular blogging advice.
Do it in your mind.
Mentally review what the blogging masses believe and teach.
Is it so?
Is it wise?
Does it emanate from abundance or scarcity?
I do not suggest following a daily publishing schedule as a beginner blogger for it leads to burnout for most bloggers.
I do suggest that you mentally challenge what guidance you trust and follow after encountering the blogging renegades of the world.
Think more like the top leaders and less like the common followers.
“Does Your Coach Look Like Me?”
I became heavily involved in bodybuilding and weight lifting in college.
I recall two skinny baseball players weight training one day.
A muscular, powerful bodybuilder gently suggested that the two skinny guys use his modified form to pack on mass and gain strength for the baseball diamond.
Both kids told the bodybuilder that their baseball coach did not teach them this specific technique.
The bodybuilder deadpanned: “Does your coach look like me?”
The skinny’s nodded, “No,”, followed his guidance and began to bulk up and gain strength at a quicker clip.
The multi-millionaire blogger did not choose quality over quantity. He chose to publish a high quantity of quality content daily for years. The dude also engaged in genuine outreach to syndicate his blog for millions of readers each month.
He challenged convention to enjoy highly unconventional results.
Never Mimic Advanced Strategies Until You Practice for a Long Time
Do not follow his advice unless your skills and expectations match.
Attempting to sprint before you can crawl leads to failure.
But challenge conventional thinking to grow.
Publish a high quantity of quality content over a long period of time.
Perhaps publishing 2-3 long form posts daily is impossible for you now.
But publishing one long form post weekly for the next year generates 52 long form posts for your blogging niche.
Respect the power of being consistent.
No blogger needs to choose quality over quantity. Pick both just like the high level blogger I saw speak in NYC.
Expand your time frames to publish a high quantity of high quality content.
Never accept what seems popular without logically vetting the advice.
He Changed My Blogging World
I appreciate that high level pro.
He changed my blogging world.
I learned the value of challenging herd thinking.
He broke the blogging mold.
How can you break free by following guidance that keeps most bloggers bound?
I do not publish three long form posts daily.
But I have published one long form post daily for months.
My quality plus quantity approach landed Blogging From Paradise Dot Com on page 1 of Google far more frequently than earlier during its inception.
No way could I drive my current level of Google traffic if I chose blog post quality over blog post quantity. Being prolific is one of my personal blogging talents. I churn out detailed posts consistently like hot cakes on a Sunday morning.
I had to come across that blogging big dawg to think and blog expansively.
Consider this post to be a blogging wake-up call.
No one grows by shying away from expansive thinking.
Challenge blogging convention.
Go beyond it to liberation.
One Important Note
As I mention frequently, break rules only to be truly helpful for others not to look cool for yourself.
I step away from the blogging herd – mentally then blogging-wise – for serving you not to stroke my ego.
Learn how to spot the difference between each motivator.
Challenge convention to best help your readers, not to pat yourself on the blogging back.
Conclusion
Think for yourself.
Do the inner work.
Challenge conventional blogging guidance.
Never blindly accept popular advice.
Do mental gymnastics.
Free yourself by doing the inner work.
Accelerate your blogging growth by thinking outside of the box.
