No.

I know this response may shock you considering that Mr. Selfie stresses the importance of showing your face as a blogger to earn credibility.

I believe that showing your face via video or image is important yet unnecessary in order to become a successful blogger.

I suggest that you do it because it is an easier way to gain trust in an increasingly suspicious world wary of AI generated content. Faces – via stills or video – can alert readers: a human being writes these words, listens to my needs and tailors content-solutions to my problems.

Be Truly Helpful

Ultimately, you only need to be truly helpful (by publishing targeted content consistently) to drive organic traffic and blogging income.

You can achieve both goals without showing your face online.

You can most definitely achieve both goals without showing your face on social media.

One Root Cause of Preferring to Be Faceless Online

Most of us have deep unconscious fears regarding our physical appearance.

I know this sounds brutal guys but I have to say it because it is true and the truth will set you free; unconsciously we all pretty much despise ourselves but push this hate way down out of awareness.

The self-hate acts out in millions of ways here. The world typically projects that hate out onto the world. People blame their families or politicians or the government or their boss for their lot in life.

Look closely at any political figure to see what I mean. Every politician eventually gets despised by large groups of people who really hate themselves and just don’t want to look at it. The politician seems to be the easy backboard for the self-hate welling in the minds of individuals.

Anyway, I took that little detour to show you one way that the self-hate acts itself out in the world.

Hating your physical appearance or at the very least severely disliking it is yet another way this inner rage acts out.

What part of our body do we most identify with?

Why our face, of course.

Feeling It Seems Tough

Nudging into that self-hate feels overwhelming at times. Most never dream of doing it. Push it down. Act it out in other ways. Blame the world for your unconscious decisions. That’s how the ego writes its insane script.

Do not think of this post as me letting anyone off the hook as much as giving you permission to succeed if you just don’t want to see your face online.

Share Your Story

But you better understand that adding your personal story is still important because most readers look past generic blogs with the AI blogging sickness and all.

A faceless blogger who publishes content identical to millions of other blogs struggles like hell to get any traffic and will never make much more than a few dimes.

If you deeply resist showing your face and adding a first person perspective then consider drilling down to publish colorful, imaginative, brilliant long-form content that makes people take notice.

Consider that somewhat generic route if it seems to be the way for you.

People do not necessarily need to see your face to trust you but it sure doesn’t hurt. Unless of course it really DOES hurt by feeling almost intolerable. Blogging is fun not punishment. Blogging is never a sacrifice or even a labor of love. Blogging is enjoying the process of helping people with content.  Never force it. Force negates.

At the end of the day, publishing practical content that baby steps them from their problems to your solutions drives organic traffic and blogging income.

Consider Conquering Fears

Showing your face proves to be an effective way to conquer many unconscious fears. Some of those unconscious fears block organic traffic and blogging income no doubt. I prefer to show my face because I know it helps me get over myself. The opposite effect arises as you journey deeper into your mind; versus putting the attention on yourself you get over yourself because of the image of a talking head means less and less to you. The message matters most. Adding a face and personal stories simply differentiates self from the generic-sounding crowd.

I still suggest that you include at least one selfie image on your blog to connect a face with the words. Most people appreciate seeing the face behind the blog even if they don’t see it frequently.

Recent Development

I noticed after restoring both my Instagram and Facebook accounts that each network asked for a selfie still and a video of me turning my head in different directions.

That’s not by accident.

Both networks only restored my account by proving that I was a human being according to their standards.

Consider that to be food for thought before you decide to go faceless.

Anybody can succeed as a faceless blogger but you will learn that this journey is about making things easier by choosing to take uncomfortable actions from time to time.

Blogging gets easier by making tougher decisions consistently.

Success comes to those who ease outside of their comfort zone on a regular basis.

Conclusion

Faceless bloggers; give yourself permission to be words on a screen.

Trust your intuition if the faceless route seems to be for you.

Long form content makes the blog.

Practical off-site content migrates targeted people to your blog.

Give your attention and energy to creating targeted content.

Succeed by getting lost in the blogging process.
