I assume millions of bloggers have used each title. I am not re-inventing the wheel here.
Something interesting happens the moment you choose clear titles. Readers easily understand your promise. Easily understanding your promise increases clicks. Blog traffic increases. Success amplifies.
Why do bloggers overlook the sheer power of crafting simple blog post titles?

I doubled down on picking the simplest titles recently because successful strategies are simple.
Something happened pronto. Readers clicked at an increasing rate.
Something else happened. I said to myself:
“The successful titles are easy to create; this feels a little boring. I feel no challenge here. Oh well.”
Successful bloggers do helpful things consistently for an extraordinary stretch of time. Simple strategies become boring to work sometimes since blogging feels like book keeping. Do this mindfully. Choose this super simple title for readers to easily understand. Write helpful posts. Distribute helpful posts aggressively through multiple channels. Do the same thing tomorrow. Or do the same thing next week.
Becoming a pro blogger is not sexy but the results can be sexy.

I’m writing these words from a million dollar house in Marin County California. Fleetwood Mac and Santana rented this place while recording albums in nearby Sausalito. We house sit to travel long term, living in places we’d not typically be able to afford. Not many humans could foot the bill to rent a $4 million USD house in Marin County California for 18 days. Yep; we are here for a few more days before moving on. Enter house sitting.
How did I get here?
I did simple things consistently even if doing simple things felt boring.
Create simple titles. Make it easy for readers to understand your title-promise.
Simple titles are not sexy but do generate clicks.
That’s what matters most.
Unconscious Self-Sabotage Torpedoes Blogging Careers
The world is largely unconscious.
People are walking around and stuff. I do not mean unconscious as if bodies are being knocked out left and right.
Human beings largely think, feel and act based on unconscious thought patterns wired into the mind.
Consider this life to be scripted. Some come here born into rich families. Most experience a far more inauspicious start. A shockingly large demographic arrives into abject poverty.
The script begins there. A tiny percentage chooses to look within the unconscious mind to change scripts. The script is multiple choice but within a fixed system. This is why planet earth will never be 7 billion billionaire human beings. The script guarantees that the world keeps spinning as it does by preventing this clear impossibility.
Consider wealthy people born into horrific conditions who overcome resistance to make serious cheddar. If they only went off of their unconscious script all are guaranteed to live and die in difficult conditions.
Right now, you can look within your unconscious mind at any time to flip the script.
How do you look within?
Look at your:
- thoughts
- feelings
- results
I mean this literally.
Meditate for 10-20 minutes daily. Note the thoughts and feelings arising in the mind. Scour your results. Do you struggle horribly? Who do you blame? Google? AI? Bloggers in your niche? Or do you want to break the unconscious script by mentally taking responsibility for your fears versus projecting your fears onto Google, AI or bloggers in your niche?
From there, think about the blog post titles that you choose. Instead of feeling frustrated about your lack of clicks, perhaps it makes sense to pick simple titles for your posts. Maybe page 1 Google posts, AI-generated content and successful bloggers in your niche are doing that right while you’ve been doing it wrong?
Stop punishing yourself.
Pick titles based on popular Google queries.
Do what works.
Give the readers what they want to click on.
Complex Titles Severely Restrict Your Reader Pool
I have published a few complex titles over the years.
None generated steady traffic.
Complex titles make it difficult for readers to understand your promise. Feeling flummoxed, most leave without clicking.
Most bloggers follow the complex title approach to be different. All regret this tactic sooner than later.
Humans typically desire a simple solution to a problem. Your blog post title sets the simple tone. Make it complex and most potential readers never visit your blog. Make it simple and most at least give it a click to learn more.
I’m not against using flamboyant titles here and there. Spice things up. Have fun. Make your blog playful.
But get back to creating simple titles to drive organic traffic.
Otherwise you restrict your reader pool to a few people who seek out the clever over practical.
Scaling becomes impossible with a tiny blogging community.
Leverage successfully.
