10 Reasons Why I Opened Blog Comments Again

Has he gone mad?

Nope.

I decided to open comments on Blogging From Paradise – again – after finding clarity today.

I spent a decent chunk of time digging deeper into my mind over the prior months.

One theme arose: I need your help.

I do.

This is reason #1.

But before proceeding, we all know that safeguards need be in place to prevent a tsunami of spam.

I intend to approve genuine comments; backlink fishers need not apply.

Note; manual approval is ticked on. Nobody can pull a fast one on me. Been around the blogging block for 18 years folks.

AI kind of stinks. Artificial intelligence seems to be ruining the joy of human beings:

  • meeting online
  • sharing thoughts
  • fostering real conversations
  • bonding
  • caring

Opening comments feels like the right thing to do for all of us to at least partially combat this AI business.

Frankly, I am not going to make a dent – like I used to – unless I open comments and get massive feedback from you (like I used to get).

I recall one post with 120 genuine comments on my blog. This place was hopping.

I have no clue what will happen going forward but guarantee some level of engagement here based on my will power.

Anyone who knows me well gets it; I don’t quit when I put my mind to something.

Going forward, I really will not shut up with commenting on social media and any blogs with comments open.

Per usual, this will send at least a few comments to my blog so we can chat and bond.

Peep the reasons.

1: I Need Your Help

My ego dissolves daily. Sometimes it melts significantly. Other times, a tiny bit fades away.

I do not mean “ego” in the traditional sense.

I mean that I am not separate from you and the trillions out there. Humans. Animals. Vegetation. One mind exists. Separation is an illusion.

That being said, opening comments taps me into your help. I need it.

I can answer blogging questions thoroughly via my long form blog posts. But I need your:

  • content
  • blog post ideas
  • discussion
  • creativity

to blog successfully.

I cannot do it all on my own.

I need you because we all can do amazing things together as one.

2: Build Community

Blog comments build community.

Especially in this age of AI blogging, bloggers need a community more than ever.

Everything is separation these days. People use things to get stuff. Humans need to work together again for our collective benefit.

I intend to grow a loyal tribe once again through the power of blog commenting.

3: Past Results

Some of my page 1 results generated zero comments.

But one masterpiece dominating page 1, position 1 on Google for well over a decade sported 100 plus comments.

Combine that with other success markers including elevated organic traffic and course/eBook sales and I figure it is time to open blog comments.

4: Migrate Social Media Users

Migrating social media users from X and Facebook to Blogging From Paradise Dot Com makes sense.

I own this blog.

I do not own X or Facebook.

Opening comments entices social media users to be seen and heard.

Plus if you simply drop an authentic comment you will gain exposure here. No narratives on Blogging From Paradise Dot Com, unlike the hoops one jumps through on Facebook and X.

5: Open Up My Platform to You

Here.

Take it.

Take the mic.

Rock the mic.

I am tired of running the show 24-7, 365.

Frankly, I am bored of it.

Being the only speaker felt lonely.

Now you get to rock it out by sharing your genuine thoughts.

I feel more generous already.

Only good things happen as your generosity expands.

6: Enjoy the Party

Blog commenting feels like a good old fashioned party.

Our party is online but we still maintain a similar vibe.

I always had a blast reading and replying to blog comments.

Party on!

7: Combat Google and Its AI Hard On

Crassness aside, Google and its AI fixation requires someone to toss in a change up.

Separating human interaction sucks.

Favoring AI to make human jobs obsolete sucks.

We can chat together to rise up page 1 through the power of people.

8: Leave My Comfort Zone

Admittedly, keeping up with moderation makes me feel a tad bit anxious.

Rarely, a jackass does park here to drop 100 plus comments in hours.

That’s duality for you.

Opening the flood gates brings in the odd dingbat.

But this is par for the course.

Anyway, you know by now that exponential success meets one outside of their comfort zone.

I am walking my blogging talk here.

9: Capitalize on User Generated Content

User generated content spawns empires.

The tech titans build monstrous companies by goading people to generate content for them through media and comments.

So…..here ya go.

Certainly it makes sense to get comments while I sleep.

I then approve the legit ones on waking.

We all win as our collective exposure increases.

10: Increase Reader Time Spent Onsite

Yes this benefits me.

My blog ranks better on Google if you stick around to publish authentic comments.

If my blog ranks better on Google your comments gain exposure too.

Win-win, once again.

Why Does This Matter to You?

My blog is another place to gain more exposure for you.

We build strong, mutually beneficial friendships, possibly co-promoting one another via the bonds built through commenting.

The work part is giving yourself enough time to drop a few real lines or even paragraphs if you feel so motivated.

Times have changed, folks. People move as quickly as ever. I do not necessarily suggest dropping comments 2 or 3 paragraphs long, consistently, at least.

But I do recommend publishing 2-3 sentences from the heart at least to make a caring impact.

I’m not putting a gun to your head to read the blog post. That’s your call.

At least give it a good scan and mine a key point – or two – to drop your genuine comment.

I deeply appreciate all comments.

Conclusion

We are back in the blog commenting saddle, folks.

Human bloggers need to do something to lessen this AI blogging noise.

There’s too much garbage out there because not enough people are sharing their heartfelt thoughts in enough spots.

My blog is now one more spot for sharing your thoughts.

Fire away.

I will kick off the conversation here.

Did you consider opening comments on your blog?

Most bloggers I know closed ’em up.

    A few kept ’em open.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this one.

Its good that you re opened your comments. Sometime i wanted to mention/ask something on a post i came upon and not have to search for it on FB. I blocked RUSSIA and all my spam stopped coming. And like u, i have to manually approve all posts. Keep on blog commenting!!

I will be by your blog before you know it! 😉

I am happy to get commenting going again in part for the reason you shared. Now it is easier to ask questions directly.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing.

Glad to see you opened up comments Ryan. I have often thought about blogging again, it’s been quite a while, but is it even worth it anymore? I’ve been concentrating on an Etsy shop for now, and while I do love creating images, like cats and florals with AI, I know a lot of people use AI for blogging and I would not, well, maybe for help with an outline. I genuinely have things to say and share that I think would be helpful, useful and people would enjoy, but just don’t know if it would be worth it these days. The time you spend blogging could be worthless for somewhat of a newbie. I guess it also depends what you’re blogging about too. Just my thoughts. Feedback welcome, of course.

So great to see you, Jessica.

Blogging is still worth it. But feeling passionate about it is important because AI blogging presses on fears. This creates tremendous resistance in the form of pressing on common limiting beliefs.

If anything, blogging is as important as ever because an increasing volume of people want genuine human interactions, from listening to their problems to publishing detailed content to solve those problems.

My comments have been closed for years. I nabbed 4 quick comments today. I really feel like people are yearning to chat, to listen, to bond, all making blogging critical these days.

@Ryan and Jessica “because an increasing volume of people want genuine human interactions”. this is very true….. despite AI changing things, people still want HI and not AI.
i read that in Sweden, kids at school are going back to books and pen and paper. People are learning that the phone is addictive and that freedom comes from looking out the window, being quiet, sitting in a cafe without a phone, like some psychopath (i used that phrase when I buy tickets at the bus station, in cash!!!)
@ Jessica. “I genuinely have things to say and share that I think would be helpful,” what topic are you thinking about here?

    • Ryan Biddulph says:
      at 11:53 pm

      Excellent points here.

Good for them in Sweden. Those kids are starting their education the right way.

LOL on the phone-less psycho. You get to observe how humanity IS psycho about their phones. Or, how astoundingly resistant people are to making eye contact and interacting with fellow people.

Hey Ryan! Thank you for replying to my comment. I see Trevor also replied to my comment. It’s hard for me to know if my comment is approved or not and I came back to this post to see after I just opened your recent email about this. I know it’s not hard to find this post, but is there a way that you know it’s been approved that pops up in my email or something or if someone replies to my comment?

Anyway, AI is great with some workflow issues and again, I LOVE creating my cat images and florals with Midjourney and some other platforms I use. I’ve even opened an Etsy shop for it, but we’ll see how it goes. I’ve tried so many things since 2018 to “make money online” and while I truly love working online, it costs money to get started and keep going and if you’re not making money, well, you know how that goes! I love what I’m doing now and hope that it will evolve and work out, but I’m also prepared for it if it doesn’t work out. My issue is I suck at marketing myself. I need email marketing, but again, suck at that too.

As for blogging, I’d love to talk about how I got started giving the online world a try instead of the 9 to 5. I’d talk about my experiences and what I’ve tried, the AI world and just ways that you can create a life online or even if you just want a side hustle. I’d also like to talk about well-being, because I have struggled with extreme anxiety, depression, insomnia and now going through terrible menopause. Yep, not afraid to say it. There are so many people out there that have so much to offer others and while AI can give you some basic answers, it is not a human being that has went through experiences in life. People just need to look within themselves and ask if it’s worth their time and do they really have it in them to do this and be prepared to struggle with the ups and downs. I do NOT want to ever have to go back to a “regular” job. I don’t mind a part time job, but not 40+ hours a week. I could get into that more, but that’s my conspiracy theory side, so I won’t, because this would be pages and pages long! I’m just lucky my husband has a decent job that I’m able to stay home, as most people don’t have that luxury, although I guess your life is what you make it and there are ways to get out of something that you’re unhappy with. I just think people don’t realize how strong they really are inside. We’re kept in fear on purpose, but again, I won’t get into that!

I think that’s it for now or else this will be a blog post itself! I hope you approve this message. 😄

You know what Jessica? I need to find a way to white list your comments so they are automatically approved. There is a way to do it. I need to dig.

Since you love Etsy it seems to be your path now. As for marketing, blogging is about the best way to market your products because free, detailed blog posts can earn credibility through Google, X, Facebook, LinkedIn and the aforementioned email list method. Ditto for genuine blog commenting and guest blogging. For example, if you linked to your blog via this comment, some of my readers would click it, visit your blog and possibly buy your stuff.

Your story and experiences sound brilliant. Many would be inspired by following your journey through blogging.

As for being kept in fear……yep. The world is run by fear. It is an invisible undercurrent thingee symbolized all around us. Governments use laws back by fear and punishment all around the globe. I could go on and on. But mind training is the only way out because seeing through this illusion of fear reveals the reality of Love and our one-ness. The *historical* Jesus found this out and shares his guidance through A Course in Miracles but his teaching has largely been hidden, being replaced by organized Christianity, not from him but about him. Again; his message is to reach only Love for that is what you are…..but that ain’t popular in a world driven by fear, sin, guilt and punishment.

Thanks SO much for this rocking comment!

@ Jessica I run my blog on WordPress and had to add a light plug in Comment Reply Email Notification so it gives the reader the option to check the box and get a ping when i reply to them… I tested it,… works a treat. Ryan has a different platform… i cant set an auto approve on people, must be a way too… regards

I’ll have to see if I get a notification or how this works. I got your email about it, so we’ll see!

Thank you for all the suggestions in your comment about blogging and connecting with my Etsy shop. I have so many ideas that I want to do online, but I should probably keep building on my Etsy shop since I just started it two months ago. I would love to post a link to my shop, but it’s cat art and that might not be your thing and I don’t want to post without your permission.

As for your paragraph about fear and Jesus, without getting into it too much, you are SO spot on about this! I can’t tell you how I wish more people would see this. These are not conspiracies, this are truths. From the poisons in our food, soil and sky, to Big Pharma, media, big tech and companies like Facebook, these people control our world and control us and try to instill fear in us and most of us fall for it. So much division, so much distraction and all done on purpose to keep us asleep and under control. People need to set their minds free from this and find themselves and Jesus. Again, I could go on and on, but I’ll stop right here because I’ll have another blog post if I don’t! I should probably wind down for the night too.

I’ll let you know if I get a notice about my comment being posted. Thanks and hope you are getting the engagement you truly deserve!

Cool; I just approved your comment now so we will see if it works when you drop your next comment.

I am only allowing blog links here just to maintain the approach that every link leads out to a content-rich resource. I am sure your online cat store rocks, of course. But if you ran a blog about cats or even cat art with imagery and some text-based content, feel free to link to it.

I could sit here for hours chatting about the fear-Love thing and this world. I really try to practice A Course in Miracles consistently daily. Difficult at times, but always do-able.

      Chat soon my friend.

Checking in with Trevor’s comments….I just approved his first after switching the settings. If he comments again we will see if it gets published immediately. Ditto if you drop a comment before I check comments again tomorrow afternoon.

Am not seeing my messages auto-approved yet…

on mine, i dont have that option. am reluctant to add another plug in….

all comments on NB get moderated.

i just reallowed people to leave their website when commenting. (i added some code to do this, just removed it!!!). if people abuse it, of c, i will have to readjust..

any messages that are detected as spam go to the spam box. cos sometimes it false flags genuine messages.

I’m not sure why it did not auto-approve your comment since it worked with Jessica this morning. I see that you are using the same email address every time. I’ll dig a bit.

Seems like the auto approve is working now.. i just replied on a post re. Keeping readers on site. re the related posts idea. The comment i left was on another email address. may be thats why…. hoping to click the right one from now on…

Dropping some comments under a different email address was the only factor that came to mind. Happy to see that it is working. Tech is fabulous when it works out seamlessly.
