Write the next post.

Publish the next post.

I remember a well known author professing this truth a while back. He also blogged.

The best seller guy told his fellow bloggers to write the next post as a way to promote the prior post. Never mind how writing the next post is an effective way to promote your:

  • blog
  • online business
  • personal brand

Why Is this Distribution Strategy Effective?

Organic traffic follows blog posts not unlike a spider traversing across a web.

My readers click through to related posts beneath the new posts.

My readers click through to related posts beneath the related posts spied after reading new posts.

Imagine a spider crawling through three different junctions.

Picture readers crawling through three different blog posts.

Do you see why writing the next post is a smart distribution tactic?

Every new post that you create points back to everything that you created prior.

Blogging is not a numbers game. Publishing highly-detailed content is a non-negotiable to earn trust and to lower your bounce rate.

Following a proven distribution strategy is important too. Build an email list. Optimize posts for SEO.

But never overlook the power inherent in being a prolific blogger. Every post points back to your blog. All detailed blog posts point back to dozens, hundreds or thousands of detailed blog posts, based on your willingness to be prolific over the long haul. Basically, the more blog posts (all highly-detailed), the better.

Think like an abundant blogger. Give freely to receive easily. Be generous to increase your skills, credibility and exposure.

Why Is this Strategy Underrated?

Most bloggers suffer from a lack of posture.

After publishing one new post, most bloggers *fear* that nobody will see it.

Being motivated primarily by the fear of exposure loss, the blogging masses spend a hefty amount of time distributing a new blog post through a wide range of channels. I am not against this. I even guide you to do it.

But how can you create new blog posts if you are swamped with distributing blog posts?

You need to be confident enough to let your content do what it does.

A wise, highly successful internet marketer told me that once. He publishes a blog post then lets the content do what it is meant to do. That’s confidence. That’s posture. He distributed the content of course but he did not fear that no one would see it save if he engaged in an aggressive post marketing campaign.

Being sufficiently confident to let posts drive traffic partially organically – with some distribution involved –  influences you to write and publish the next blog post.

I had to overcome the “But nobody will see my blog posts unless I distribute each aggressively?!?!?!?!” fear in mind to follow this prolific strategy. Facing, feeling and letting go of that fear did not feel like a picnic.

However, writing the next post boosted my organic exposure.

I began to rank on page 1 of Google sans optimizing posts for SEO. I have zero doubts that the depth and quality of my content played a role in this. But my domain authority may be the biggest factor in currying favor with the Google gods.

How did I boost it?

I slowly but steadily published a volume of detailed, practical blogging tips themed posts over the years. The Google algorithm kept track of these posts and perceived my blog to be an authority resource in the blogging tips niche.

Every post pointed back to:

  • hundreds of blog posts indirectly
  • 6 related blog posts directly

The Google algorithm and human readers spotted detailed blogging tips pointing back to detailed blogging tips, blog post after blog post, week after week, month after month.

Google positioned some posts on page 1.

But something neat happened with the people.

Folks perceived me to be a blogging tips leader based on me following this underrated but powerful distribution strategy.

I allowed them to find thorough blogging tips themed posts via my related posts embeds and search bar.

As of this publish date, readers have access to over 600 detailed posts on Blogging From Paradise Dot Com.

No way in hell could I write 600 long form, in-depth blog posts if I obsessed over distributing every single post through a broad range of channels. I would have spent days distributing, not writing and publishing a new post daily or every few days.

Make one of your distribution strategies writing the next detailed, targeted blog post.

Become prolific to enhance distribution.

Should You Ditch Distribution All Together?

Nope.

As always, self-sabotaging beliefs surface in the mind from time to time.

One such limiter is the classic, “All or nothing!” approach to blogging strategies.

Use the strategy above to tap into an overlooked distribution tactic.

But work these distribution channels consistently:

  • build an email list
  • optimize blog posts for SEO
  • share posts to X, Facebook and LinkedIn
  • create groups on Facebook and LinkedIn; share posts to these channels too
  • publish videos on YouTube pointing to blog posts

Follow those strategies as a basic foundation to market your blog posts.

What Is the Biggest Challenge?

Being prolific triggers various fears.

Chief among these fears is dreaded writer’s block.

Face, feel and look past writer’s block fears as each pops up in your noggin.

Proceed to write and publish the next practical blog post.

As a rule of thumb, publish one blog post weekly at a minimum until you build creative momentum significantly. From that point, publishing 2 or more times weekly may be the next step in order to make this strategy work for you.

I implore you though; do not overreach. Setting an ambitious publishing schedule is a common cause of blogging failure and quitting.

Think long term.

Get a post out there weekly for the next year. That is 52 blog posts pointing to each other as a fairly solid distribution tactic based solely on writing and publishing fresh, new, thorough content.

Practical Tips

  • embed related posts below posts (find a plug-in or widget for it)
  • embed popular posts on your sidebar (find a plug-in or widget for it)
  • embed a search bar on your sidebar

Point readers directly to blog posts to make this strategy work wonders for you.

For odd reasons, fewer bloggers embed a search bar on their site.

Why would you send readers elsewhere? Last I looked, X and Facebook collectively boast billions of users. Isn’t that enough for them? You could probably use a few more readers, no?

Embed that search bar, folks!

Readers want to learn more.

Followers have questions.

Keep your community onsite.

Let this distribution tactic work for you.

Conclusion

Write the next blog post.

Distribute your blog posts by increasing distribution segments; aka, blog posts.

Promote your blog by being prolific.
