Do you hustle to create more blog posts?

I advise you to be a prolific blogger. Ship. Earn trust. Gain exposure.

Improving your blog also plays a key role. Tailoring everything for a core reader forms the foundation for a thriving blogging business.

Beginners Lack Clarity

Most bloggers lack clarity at the start. Beginners attempt to move in multiple directions.

Some try to cover multiple niches. Others scramble to monetize without keeping one core reader in mind.

Every blog needs a tune up from time to time.

Enter blog optimizing.

Optimizing blog content turns readers into customers.

Aligning blogs drives highly targeted traffic to websites.

Blogging From Paradise took off quickly 12 years ago because I aligned my blog fairly well.

I strayed into misalignment a few times; growth stalled during these quiet stretches.

Walking my blogging talk inspired me to write this post.

Look up.

Look down.

I optimize Blogging From Paradise Dot Com for bloggers who want blogging tips.

I publish posts for bloggers who want blogging tips.

I sell an online course and eBooks for bloggers who thirst for blogging tips.

I do what I do for bloggers who want blogging tips.

I do little else but only because you told me to:

  • publish the odd travel post
  • write and sell an eBook for travelers
  • write and sell an eBook based on my life

I created that stuff because bloggers who want blogging tips explicitly told me to do it. I never would do it otherwise.

I do not wing it. Nor do I blog about what’s on my mind. I blog about what’s on your mind. You are my readers. We co-create to manifest Blogging From Paradise Dot Com.

I optimize my blog for you to indirectly do it for myself.

Serve one person.

Gain topical authority.

Drive organic traffic.

Position your blog to generate blogging income.

Specializing blogs for one clear reader is the secret to blogging success.

The world trusts specialists.

Generalists?

Not so much.

What Is Blog Optimizing?

Align every blogging element for your singular reader.

Do this from the header to the footer.

Do this for every single:

  • blog post
  • blog page

How does your sidebar look? Is it aligned for your singular reader? How about your header menu? Look at your footer menu. What do you see? Do you speak to your reader?

Third Party Ads: The Enemy of Blog Optimizing

Let me share a blog optimizing no-no.

Third party ads spoil the blog optimizing soup.

Bloggers embed ads from third party networks.

The networks serve ads based on algorithms.

But does the algorithm match your reader’s specific needs? Do ads cover one niche? Or do ad networks grab opportunities from multiple blogging niches?

I gaze at the travel blog serving up ads not related to traveling. Each deviation corrupts optimization. Every ad not related to traveling projects the “playing darts while blindfolded” approach.

Moving away from your niche for any reason confuses readers.

Confusing readers sends some to the cyber hills.

Losing readers increases your bounce rate.

Never send readers away from your blog by confusing these folks.

Stay on niche.

Optimize your blog.

Blog Optimizing Tips

How do you optimize your blog?

Start by holding one reader in mind.

See One Reader in Mind

Pinpoint one reader.

Imagine a core follower.

Specialize. Do one thing to do it well. Build topical authority.

Optimize by knowing the one person you optimize your blog for. See that person. List their problems. Feel their pain points.

Design every element on your blog around the needs of that one individual.

Begin your alignment homework there.

Align Blog Elements for One Reader

Human beings screw up.

We make optimization errors sometimes because an income stream seems too good to turn down.

The ad network sounds brilliant; until your travel-hungry readers see advertisements for preventing doggy diarrhea.

The disconnect sets in. Why does a travel blogger try to make money based on ads for Snickers who has the Shits?

A dangerous thought pops up in the reader’s mind: “Is this guy or gal selling out? Why do they advertise for canine intestinal problems? I’m not sure if I fully trust this blogger anymore. Something feels fishy.”

Maybe the thoughts trigger on an unconscious level. Something feels off. Readers seem less likely to fully trust posts from the blogger going forward.

As the off-topic ads build cumulatively – based on algorithms served up by third party natures – your blog optimization becomes compromised.

Trust eroding, any other off-topic element confuses readers once again.

I need to address something. Bloggers who do a poor job optimizing can bust their ass to eventually go full-time. But why not make your job easier by fully aligning your blog for one laser-targeted reader? Topical authority generates passive blogging income. Readers buy based on your name. Bloggers build a credible name by covering a single topic inside-out for years. Bloggers enhance their cred by ensuring every blogging element points explicitly to that topic.

Do one thing.

Do it well.

Align your blog.

Review Optimization Every 6-12 Months

Scan your blog every 6-12 months.

Spot optimizing deviation.

Cull mistakes.

Trash anything not perfect for your core reader.

Ditch the off-topic income channel. Get rid of the extraneous footer menu item.

Take off-topic elements to the blogging trash.

Maintain optimizing integrity.

Conclusion

Align to shine.

Optimize your blog for one reader.

Trim the blogging hedges.

Drive highly targeted traffic.

Succeed by specializing.

Hi Ryan, I try to optimize an older blog almost daily as needed. I had some topics that were not niche-related, so I 301 them. I believe I trimmed down about 100 posts so far. And I updated many others for 2026 as things change quickly in SEO and social media, which also affects the blogging niche. Then I go over to YouTube and do the same. I may delist some old, outdated videos there too.
Have you done that with your YouTube channel too?

I have not done that yet Lisa but will do it starting now.

A chunk of my videos are dated, off-topic and not aligned with my current day blog, brand and online business.

As for updating I am also doing it daily. I review one or more posts to prune the irrelevant content and/or links. I then replace with accurate text and links to spruce things up.

I never really thought about optimizing a blog for a wedding. Do you find it makes a big difference?

      Hi Jay,

      100%.

      Build:

      – blog posts
      – blog pages
      – products
      – services

around one reader who wants to research weddings.

Cover the wedding topic inside-out. Be practical. Share tips answering common wedding researcher questions.

Think like someone planning a wedding. Make your blog a reflection of helpful solutions for the individual.

Align every blog element with the wedding niche.

      You’ll love the results.
