What Was My Most Miraculous Blogging Turning Point?

My most miraculous blogging turning point had everything to do with the mind and nothing to do with numbers.

Whoops….I probably just lost 90% of you.

Anyway…..

I stopped trusting people who told me all the things I did wrong.

I looked past these individuals.

I surrounded myself with people who deeply valued my blog posts. I bonded with eBook customers. I bonded with online course customers.

I listened to feedback from my fans, friends or however you kind readers wish to see yourself. Make no mistake about it. I am your fan. Why do I publish blogging tips daily? I do it mainly for you. I get organic traffic yet you motivate me to help you consistently.

Why did I decide to focus on you?

Focusing on the other ones made me feel bad.

The Other Ones

I recall earning my max income through blogging a while back. I never discuss numbers because numbers attract the other ones; the wrong ones.

Anyway, a few of the other ones mentioned that monthly income figure on their blogs. In the next breath, the other ones said it was not enough. The other ones guided their followers to strive for the next massive, big-balled, hairy income goal.

What the f*ck did these people need? A yacht?

I own a laptop, phone, carry on and clothes for the week. What else do I need? I am a digital nomad. I spied their mental sickness of OH MY GOD THIS IS NOT ENOUGH and looked past them for good.

I also looked past the other ones in my inbox. Struggling entrepreneurs who tried to convince me that my 90,000 backlinks at the time were not enough. Some told me my organic traffic numbers were non-existent. So what? Why were these strangers cold pitching me? In the online world, The Hunters are starved, thirsty, desperate creatures while The Hunted are fat and happy, relaxing in their living rooms, doorbell disconnected, The Hunters attempting to scream even though the mile long driveway leading to your house makes for the perfect buffer.

I let go of these lost blogging souls too.

Then the miraculous shift occurred.

Where Your Attention and Energy Goes Grows

Give energy to readers who love your blog to grow the number of people who love your blog. Never mind how loyal fans become referral business builders with this strategy. Never mind how referrals from their network become referral business builders. Never mind…..well….you get the idea. The process compounds into exponential blogging growth for you.

I concentrated on people who helped me succeed to experience increased success.

Why do I consider this to be miraculous?

Every struggling blogger feels cursed. Most think an invisible force field prevents their success from happening. I believed I was forever doomed to fail. No one had money to hire me. No one had money to buy my stuff. For a loyal fan or two everyone else offered me only resistance. Critics showed up to skewer me. Specialists showed up to doubt me. Nothing worked. I even considered quitting.

Yet I knew there had to be a better way. I knew that doing something differently would bring different results.

What did I need to do differently?

Turns out, I needed to think differently. Action had nothing to do with my struggles. My thoughts made struggles for me. Changing my mind influenced me to take actions but the mental shift not the actions created the massive breakthrough.

I stopped thinking about critics. I started thinking about fans. I cared for fans too. I appreciated loyal readers. I thanked loyal customers for their support. Listening to their feedback – not the complaints of harsh critics – pointed me in the right direction.

I helped people who wanted my help. My success expanded.

I stopped trying to help people who did not want my help. I looked past critics. Nor did I engage those who offered critical feedback from hurtful not helpful energy.

Change Your Mind

You change your mind with a blanket decision. In the next breath, you feel different. From there you follow successful blogging strategies confidently. The miracle moment sets in well before traffic and income arrives. The radical shift becomes a predominant feeling; you transition from feeling awful to feeling good. Self-doubt shifts to self-confidence. Critics melt away. Fans arrive.

I still had to do the work but work felt easier because my mind felt peaceful. Imagine cruising down a hill not scaling Mount Everest.

Traffic and income gradually flowed to me but a bit down the road. The mental shift meant everything because you and I just want to feel better without relying on externals, right?  My turning point became an emotional change. Worldly blogging success followed organically a while after the internal shift.

What About You?

How do you feel about your blog?

Do you feel stressed? Do you feel confident?

Do you only feel confident because your metrics tell you to feel confident? Do you feel like garbage when the metrics drop? Guess what? If you feel bad when your traffic dies you were never supremely confident in the first place. Numbers do not affect a genuinely confident person at all. Numbers only depress one lacking confidence.

Your mind’s perception of the number makes the feeling in your mind. You are doing it to yourself; no one in this world is mindless.

Why would you choose to make a miraculous inner shift if you didn’t think you needed to make the shift?

Practical Steps

To start this process, the best thing to do is nothing.

Lock yourself in a quiet room.

Turn off your phone.

Turn off your laptop.

How do you feel about your blog?

What type of people interact with you on a daily basis?

Do critics assail you? Do specialists pitch you opportunities?

Or do loving, loyal fans support your blog and business?

You and I may experience a mixed bag between critics and fans. But a predominance usually manifests. Either more fans or more critics reach us on a daily basis.

Or spammers pitching their business dwarf both categories. Being besieged by spam with no fans in sight flashes a clear red flag. Build strong relationships with readers now. Email them. Ask them how you can help them. Ask them what you should blog about. Thank them for their support. Bond.

Where your attention and energy goes, grows.

Remember that to make your miraculous shift.

Conclusion

Shift internally to feel good about your blog.

Starve critics.

Feed fans.

Your Turn
