I am writing these words from a 3,000 square foot apartment in perhaps the most desirable city on the planet.
Pretty much everyone loves Prague.
Most travelers list this charming city as one of the best in the world.
The apartment is exquisite. Massive, with high ceilings, overlooking the river, it is a dream come true.
House sitting in a luxury apartment to care for 3 easy cats seems dreamy.
It is.
But if I learned anything over the past 12 years of circling the globe as a blogger it is this:
your dreams cannot liberate you completely because only mind training fosters freedom.
Dreams Cannot Change Your Mind About the World
Prague is fun.
Spending one month in a luxury apartment feels peaceful.
Living in the lap of luxury feels relaxing.
But spending a month in a luxury apartment on the river in one of the world’s elite cities did not change my mind about the world.
Peace comes from within. Peace does not come from the world.
Since being here, I’ve experienced:
- sleepless nights digging deeper into my unconscious fears
- one intense evening of…..ahem…..“stomach problems”
- a persistent stiff neck
Nothing in the world changes these situations. Patient, persistent mind training is the only way to be free of the nightmares that the ego creates. Being in a luxury apartment does not erase anything from your mind. Circling the globe does not rid your mind of unconscious fears.
You see, my Young Blogging Padawans, mind training is the only way to live in peace because the dream life cannot change your mind.
What you believe rests solely in your mind. Changing locations does not change what you believe. Changing homes does not change what you believe. Changing income brackets does not change what you believe. Changing partners does not change what you believe.
Living your dreams does not change what you believe.
Changing your mind about the world through patient, careful, deliberate mind training is the only way to lasting:
- peace
- happiness
- joy
- serenity
- abundance
- bliss
- love
Living Your Dreams Feels Fun and Freeing But It Ain’t the Answer
I encourage you to live your dreams because stepping into that being feels fun, freeing and flat out liberating.
Go for it! The ride is a real hoot.
Migrating from living in survival mode to thriving in abundance forces you to face, feel and release primal fears appearing to cripple humanity. Leaving the primal fears and crippling limiting beliefs in your rear view mirror feels amazing.
But as you step toward your dream life through blogging accept this truth:
the only way to feel peaceful, calm, relaxed and loving through thick, thin, ups and downs, dreams and nightmares and any worldly situation is to change your mind about the world, its dreams and all the transitory stuff of the world.
Living your dreams feels really fun most of the time. Frame living your dream life as being on vacation, largely. But if you have not walked the enlightened path of Jesus, Buddha, Sri Ramana Maharshi or other mystics and saints you have something called “fear” sitting in your conscious and unconsciousness mind. Spending one month in a Prague apartment that would cost $10 million on the Upper West Side of NYC does not eradicate, dissolve or banish fear in your mind. You need to do that, with the help of your intuition, through mind training.
That’s how you become happy for the long haul amid the ups and downs of the world.
Blogging is fun. Blogging is freeing. But going within to change your mind is the answer.
Living your blogging dreams does not save you from your fears. Only mind training allows fears to arise from the unconscious into awareness. From there, feeling, expressing and forgiving the fears liberates you to live in increasing peace.
Practical Examples of Mind Training
When we arrived in Prague temperatures dropped into the 20’s (Fahrenheit) amid snow squalls.
We researched the climate but erred in assuming Prague was farther south than north.
Being cold averse offered us two choices:
- allow the mind to wander into complaining
- put mind training into action to appreciate the cold, the contrast and the European beauty of a blustery Prague during early April
Since we patiently train our minds daily we saw the beauty and contrast of the snow adding to Prague’s charm. During less disciplined mind training days, we’d have bitched and moaned about freezing our asses off in a gray, cloudy climate for weeks.
Even if your life appears to be perfect you will receive opportunities to see what appears to be kicking around in your mind.
In more extreme examples, individuals who appear to live the most spectacular dream life self-implode by not facing their most intense fears.
Iconic Rockers Descending Into Hell
I studied the biographies of iconic rockers like Whitney Houston, Elvis and Michael Jackson.
Each entertainer had a passion fueled by an insane work ethic to bring their joy to billions of human beings.
Fame, adulation and massive wealth found this trio of perhaps the most talented, skilled and influential individual singers of all time.
According to the world, each had it all.
But their dream life did not save them. Nor did living their dreams completely liberate them.
Their dream life did not erase the fears manifest as guilt, grief, shame, embarrassment, rage and other poisonous emotions nestled deep in their minds.
Each skilled icon living the dream made a series of conscious and unconscious decisions descending the individuals into seeming hell on earth.
Of course, training their minds could have helped them expose and forgive the unconscious fears long pushed out of awareness.
Having endless resources, fame, the adulation of collective billions of human beings and even expressing their passion while living their dreams could not save them from the fears in their minds long pushed out of awareness.
On a worldly level, all three suffered terribly during later years of their lives until dying pretty horrific deaths fueled by various forms of drug or alcohol abuse, abusing sex or being engaged in other destructive activities.
Training your mind is the key to enjoying life as it is, peacefully, whether you happen to be living your dream life now or not.
Some folks deem me as being lucky, blessed or gifted because I circle the globe and live my dreams but my predominant happiness comes from the inside-out versus the outside-in.
No Private Thoughts No People Pleasing
I trained my mind (slowly but surely) over the past 12 to 15 years to face, feel, express and forgive fears burrowed deep in my mind regarding fairly extreme experiences from my childhood.
Before I began training my mind, fears related to these extreme experiences kicked around deep in my unconscious mind, guiding me to:
- work depressing jobs just to get paychecks
- build my body up with weight training to intimidate people, to convince myself that I was attractive and lovable and to prevent myself from ever suffering through extreme experiences again
Of course, this fear-based belief system guaranteed a systemic abuse from the matrix. Mindlessly coasting through life without giving much thought to passion, joy and fun allowed a carefully planned system to manipulate me with my fears.
Point blank; it was MY lesson to learn, MY mind to own and simply revealed the world reflecting my belief system back to me.
I finally began to realize that no victims exist save in their belief system. Migrating within regularly was the way to gain intuitive guidance for uncovering this realization.
Expanded Perspective
Now, I can offer a perhaps expanded perspective on:
- blogging tips
- living your dreams
- mind training
- peace
- happiness
because I have the intimately personal experience of someone who’s lived it, versus theorizing about this stuff, from the cheap seats.
The only way to have peace is to change your mind about the world.
The only way to change your mind about the world is through mind training.
Mind training can be achieved through various rituals like:
- prayer
- meditating
- doing various forms of yoga
- reading and practically applying A Course in Miracles
among other strategies.
Dreams Change But a Trained Mind Is Constant
15 years ago as a new blogger I recall driving Kelli around ritzy areas of Northern New Jersey as a practice to expand my prosperity consciousness.
My ego wanted to be rich!
15 years later, my dreams changed to owning almost nothing, circling the globe as a digital nomad and caring little of the material world.
Why?
I decided to train my mind to develop consistent peace of mind. Establishing more lasting peace of mind allowed the intuitive voice to speak more clearly in my mind versus the raucous, beastly shrieks of the ego.
The intuition guided me to make more decisions from love, to be less invested in the world, to teach blogging with joy and to use the symbols of my dream life to:
- wake up minds
- inspire bloggers to follow their dreams
- invite bloggers to train their minds
- goad bloggers to face their fears
- influence bloggers to stick to the fundamentals of being truly helpful and building strong collaborations for the good of all
Hell yeah, I still think about making money from blogging here and there. I am not enlightened.
Yet, I care less and less about money because I desire consistent peace of mind above all else. Dreams change but feeling at peace consistently is priceless. Plus, being at peace mentally guides you to make more abundant decisions regarding blogging and business.
Capitalism and Materialism
When you begin to fully understand that acquiring money and things are definitely not the answer, feel free to keep your peace of mind and think big.
Consider life in the world as having fun playing make-believe. Picture yourself as playing a human skit for a while. No one needs money or any other symbol because we are all cared for through whatever means best work for the individuals. However, as you become more detached from materialism it is A-OK to think big in order to use symbols like money for the greater good.
Money and things can be used to:
- help
- inspire
- serve
- amplify
As a practical example, since I have enough money to pay for a domain and hosting and to buy plane tickets to Prague for this house sit I can inspire you, uplift you and guide you to dream big through my blog.
Yet, my wife and I can spend a month in a multi-million dollar house masquerading as an apartment without paying a single cent.
Peeling open your mind through patient training reveals endless ways to access support, care and love from your intuitive guidance.
Money ain’t the enemy.
But it sure as hell ain’t the answer either.
Develop peace of mind first. From a more peaceful, clear-thinking mind, things like money, and lodging, and the worldly stuff are more forthcoming.
In laymen’s terms, once you have a strong mind everything in the world gets easier and if you harbor a chaotic, undisciplined mind, everything in the world is difficult.
The world makes nothing so.
It’s just your mindset about the world that makes it appear that way.
Living your dreams can be quite fun and freeing.
But training your mind to develop peace from within is the only way to lasting serenity, happiness and joy.
Go for it!
Dreams are fleeting.
Peace of mind is forever.
Conclusion
The idea for this post found me last evening.
Publishing this post on Easter has deeper symbolic meaning.
All ascended masters prove that eternity is reality.
The Teacher also proved that deeply valuing and attaching to anything in this world – including your dreams – is a lesson in futility because every thing in time and space fades away.
Live your dreams but don’t get too attached. Help people through your blog but make the service the reward.
Money, traffic and success will arrive but if you really want lasting happiness, peace of mind and joy, trust your intuition and strengthen your mind.
The treasure is within.
