Calling all absentee bloggers out there.
When did you last publish a post?
Have months passed since you blogged?
Everyone coasts through the blogging doldrums. I do. You do.
I took off from blogging up to a month at times. Pulling back made me feel like a fraud. I suffered from imposter syndrome. How could I call myself a blogger if I only blogged once a month?
How did I dive back into the blogging game?
I followed the steps below.
Take these tactics to heart.
Get back in the blogging game.
A1: Learn How to Succeed from Professional Bloggers

1: Forgive Yourself
Admittedly, following this step feels difficult.
You and I beat ourselves up for blogging imperfections.
“Why did I take such a long time off? How can I ever get back into blogging again? Look at how much traffic I lost? Good God; why even bother with blogging again.”
Raise your hand if the prior thoughts kicked around in your mind.
Forgive yourself for your imperfections.
Life intervenes. Crappy things happen. People get sick. Kids have problems. Jobs require your attention.
Blogging turns out to be more work than you expected. Back burner it. Stop blogging for a few months. Take a breath. Relax for a while. These thoughts pop up in all blogging minds at times.
How do you get back into blogging?
Stop mentally beating yourself up.
Do the mindset work *first* to do the blogging work again. Otherwise, you get caught in an endless self-abuse loop until you quit blogging.
Forgive Your Humanity
Forgive yourself for being human.
We are imperfect. Humans largely live from the unconscious. We do stuff based on ideas buried deep in the unconscious mind.
You and I can consciously change our mind. But forgiving yourself is the first step to move forward.
Bloggers beat the living crap out of themselves for not blogging. As the months add up the guilt feels crippling. Debilitating, even.
How do you turn things around?
Forgive yourself.
Humans run away from doing the work. Bloggers self-sabotage. Everyone wants to quit at times. Be honest with yourself. Hug your thoughts. Do the inner work. Look past blogging errors. Begin blogging again.
Build success momentum by addressing internal failure momentum.
Do mental gymnastics for a bit.
Think like a blogger again.
2: Remember Why You Blog
Why do you blog?
Hold the reason in your mind.
Get back into blogging by remembering why you blog.
I felt dejected after taking some time off from blogging over the years. Remembering why I blogged goaded me to write and publish my next post.
Focus on the Joy of Helping People Not Being a Blogging Loser
Let your joy of helping people overcome your fear of failure. Freedom beats fear but only if you remember why you blog.
List your reasons. Do you blog to be free? Do you blog to help people? Do you blog to spread the love?
Never blog exclusively to make money. Chasing money feels disheartening. No one makes money quickly. Losing your motivator deflates you.
Bloggers go on a money-chasing bender for months. Three months pass. Six months pass. Still no posts.
How do you get back in the blogging saddle?
Blog for fun and freedom not mainly to earn cheddar.
Put your blogging hiatus behind you.
Pull back from blogging for a bit to do inner work.
Remember why you blog to……blog.
3: Cover a Popular Topic
Blog about a popular topic.
Ease back into blogging with a simple subject.
Use Google Semantic Search. Query popular terms. Pick one.
Cover the topic thoroughly. Publish a detailed resource. Create a sticky piece of content. Lower your bounce rate.
Write 1200 words per post at a minimum. I set that word count to cultivate an abundance mindset. Thinking about the number gets you into the proper blogging frame of mind, goading you to sit down and do the blogging work genuinely.
I dissect popular blogging tips to keep my blogging mojo going.
A blogging tips blogger like me covers subjects like:
- how to drive blog trafficÂ
- how to make money blogging
- how to get blog comments
Cover simple topics to begin blogging again.
Publish by keeping things simple.
Keep blogging.
Keep going.
4: Give Yourself Time to Complete the Job
Publishing a blog post means completing the job thoroughly.
Devote time to get the job done.
Set aside 3-5 hours to:
- research the post
- outline the post
- write the post
- publish the post
Time yourself.
Never rush the blogging process. Treat blogging seriously. Put in the time. Let numbers guide you.
Consider setting a timer on your phone. Stare at the numbers. Be honest about how much time you put into blogging. Gauge your commitment.
Timing the blog post creation process reveals what you value.
Treat Blogging Like a Job
I sit down to write a post if blogging feels like a fun job.
Setting a timer puts me on the clock.
I recall my security guard days. I punched in then punched out to get a pay check. Oh yeah; I also completed my tasks during the work time frame.
Blogging is similar. Punch in then punch out to do your job. Complete specific tasks during your work day.
Develop a blogging habit.
Time your tasks.
People tend to work if they set aside time to get the job done.
5: Build Blogging Momentum (Write the Next Post)
Hop back onto the blogging horse.
Write then publish the next post. Blogging one hit wonders disappear fast. Build blogging momentum. Ship again.
Position yourself to succeed.
Become prolific one blog post at a time.
Develop a blogging habit.
Begin writing the next post tomorrow not three months from now.
Set aside a few days to complete the job.
Conclusion
Put blogging frustrations behind you.
Become prolific.
Follow a simple system to blog again.
Past loss does not influence future success if you begin blogging again but intelligently this time.
