What Is the Only Do It Yourself Aspect of Blogging?

Blogging involves a “do it yourself” component.

The good news is that you are in complete control of this aspect.

The bad news is that you need to train yourself to be in complete control of this aspect.

Lazy bloggers love to know that this solo act involves zero physical work.

Lazy bloggers become terrified to know: this solo act involves taking full responsibility.

The DIY aspect of blogging is choosing your thoughts.

No One Can Choose Your Thoughts for You

No one else can choose your thoughts for you. People attempt to influence you. People attempt to manipulate you. People attempt to scare you into making a sale for themselves. People attempt to tell you that you need them…..or else!

But you are the only one who can choose your thoughts meaning it is a solo job. No one can place a thought in your mind and make you choose it because it is your mind and your choice.

Why Is This DIY Aspect of Blogging Difficult?

Choosing your thoughts means that you cannot blame anything or anyone anymore.

Blaming projects responsibility.

“Google is choosing my thoughts because Google victimized me during the most recent algorithm update. My blog traffic vanished overnight because Google wiped me out. I succeeded but Google chose to do something that completely obliterated my blog, my mind and my power of choice. Google ripped everything away from me.”

Does this sound reasonable to you?

It is unreasonable but every blogger chooses these specific thoughts sometimes.

Is it possible to be calm-minded? Is it possible to drive organic traffic and blogging income after a Google algorithm update? Is it possible to think like me? Is it possible to make your blog and not Google the source of your traffic? Can you choose to think then act your way out of a temporary shortage?

Trust This Lesson from a Powerful Person

I came across a powerful person during my world travels.

He ran multiple businesses. Dude was certainly a multi-millionaire.

He said he never worried. He maintained a calm mind. Whenever the shit hit the fan he controlled his mind to remain calm. His calm mind found solutions quickly. He calmly acted on solutions to thrive.

The man married a mentally injured woman decades ago who mastered forging his signature. She did it flawlessly.

One night he went to bed worth millions of dollars.

The next morning he woke up in heavy debt after his wife forged his signature to control all of his assets.

He calmly laughed at her brass balls then immediately began building other businesses. Being relaxed, patient and persistent, he made his millions again based on the only thing he could control: his limitless mind.

Proving his commitment to being psychologically detached, after he got divorced and re-married, he made sure that all shared assets were in his wife’s name. She had all the power. He trusted her implicitly but he also did it to prove the fleeting nature of wealth.

At 79 years old he is fit, trim, prospering and starting two new businesses. He extends the energy of a healthy person in their 50’s.

Everything Is Mind

What you do or resist doing is based on your choices.

But most blog unconsciously.

Most believe action can happen without a mental choice preceding action because the unconscious decision occurs with lightning speed in the temporarily mindless.

Becoming successful is based on your decisions before your actions.

Failing is based on your decisions before your actions.

Deciding is a DIY deal.

Everyone knows that mind training is difficult but doable.

What is the upside of taking full responsibility for your thoughts?

Peace Freedom and Worldly Success

Bloggers who take full responsibility for their:

  • choices
  • actions
  • results

slowly but surely become peaceful, free and prospering.

People and things no longer influence your thoughts because you choose your thoughts. Nothing happens outside-in.

The price is steep because almost everyone in this world *thinks* outside agents influence their lives; at least partially.

If this were true it’d mean everyone here is completely mindless and has no choice at all.

Is that true?

It appears to be true for some people yet others disprove the theory.

Choosing Amidst Hell

Viktor Frankl survived the Holocaust.

He expressed how the only thing that man could control was his choices.

If he thought this way during and after the Holocaust anyone can think this way in far less tempting circumstances to think outside-in.

The world can literally destroy your body or anything that you own but it cannot control your thoughts. That’s up to you.

Taking it down about 1 million notches, you and I can choose to be mentally calm when the blogging world goes haywire.

But deciding is a solo act.

People may inspire you.

You choose to think, feel and act as a successful blogger thinks, feels and acts.

Conclusion

Everything is on you mentally.

Blogging is a team sport on the action side of things.

But choosing to move in a successful blogging direction is up to you.

  1. Hi Ryan,

What a story about your multi-millionaire friend!

I have mastered the art of feeling relaxed when a subscriber sends me a nasty reply to an email I sent them, but I confess I have a way to go to reach the level of your friend!
