How to Get Featured on Google

Bloggers hungry to succeed try to figure out how to get featured on Google.

But most slug it out without giving much thought to featured snippets.

Even fewer consider how to get featured on Google as a top blogger to follow.

Without sounding douchey about it, I want to help you think, feel and act properly to reach your blogging dreams.

Never take this post as an ego trip. I wear gym clothes as my daily uniform, for goodness sakes.

Your local recluse is probably dressed to the nines compared to me.

Blogging From Paradise readers goad me to share perspectives from an alleged blogging insider.

You ask me to share my thoughts whether it be a “day in the life” type post or some practical guide for how I think, feel and act as a blogger.

With that it mind, I wrote this post.

Successful Bloggers to Follow

I searched the term successful bloggers to follow today on Google expecting to see my page 1 post.

For poops and giggles, I clicked on the featured snippets.

I saw this from my location:

I ponder myself as just a guy who blogs. Ryan does not seek fame through blogging. He does appreciate having a greater platform to empower more bloggers.

Anyway, minus the prior, extra douchey, 3rd person reference, I write this post to offer bloggers what bloggers ask me to offer.

Do you want to know how to get featured on Google?

Follow these tips.

A1: Be Patient and Persistent for a Long Time through Thick and Thin

The main reason why Google featured me is not because I am some special blogger, worldly famous or powerfully successful.

My patience, persistence and dogged nature through ups, downs and in-betweens over the prior 14 years or so – or 15?….I forget – put me on that list.

The insiders know how freaking frustrating blogging feels at times.

So, even though this blog post is helpful, the full enchilada, the complete guide, for gaining serious exposure is here.

I only unearthed and addressed the problem by being brutally persistent and mindfully patient during days where I hated blogging and wanted to quit. That’s it. That’s what blogging insiders know and some teach, too.

Be so in love with blogging that you will persist for many years before anything appears to be happening. Pay close attention to icons like J.K Rowling who had a billion dollar idea that the world said was worth 0 dollars for a long time. She is a billionaire now but the years that she was dead broke and raising a fam on government assistance tested her patience and persistence.

Can you stomach that level of hardship?

You better be able to, if you want exposure to the point of Google featuring you as being follow-worthy.

1: Understand the Impersonal Google Algorithm

Being transparent reveals how Seth, Maria and Perez are worldly famous human beings known by millions.

I am not.

Yet the impersonal Google algorithm scoured the web sans bias to spit my name out as a blogger to follow from sources around the web.

Know that this algorithm does not favor you. Nor does the program judge you.

However complex it seems to be, the algorithm basically sees how much you’ve helped a scaled group of targeted, trusting human beings to decide whether or not you make the list. Be helpful, patient, persistent and relaxed about it for a long time to position yourself favorably. Do not be stingy, impatient and do not lack persistence because you are trying to make Google happy.

I struggled for a long time because I attached to the outcome of trying to make people or search engines happy. Gradually shifting my intent toward being happy to help people and letting go any expectation of them changed my blogging career.

Please re-read that prior sentence. I suspect you will not come across it often from any blogger solely because I’ve not found that wording on higher profile blogs. Heck; I’ve never written these words prior to this post.

Insider tip: stop trying to make people happy and start being happy to help people solve their problems and let go of outcomes from that activity.

This is how to be a top blogger based on the purview of Google.

Embody this mindset for a long time to make a featured list on the Big G.

2: Stick to the Basics and Rarely if Ever Deviate Or You Will Not Make the List

I made things so hard on myself for years because after doing the blogging basics for a bit I:

  • panicked
  • bailed on simple techniques
  • deviated into complex, failing strategies
  • did not experience increasing success and began to struggle in cycles

I will give you a good example. I see my mind right now racing ahead to publishing and promoting this blog post without dropping links to my blogging courses and blogging eBooks. Dropping links to my premium offerings is a simple and powerful way to make money blogging. Treat your blog like a storefront not a charity, eh?

Yet, I need to be hyper aware of this error in deviating from the simple to actually drop the links and gain course plus eBook exposure.

As I type these words from Crete, Greece, I think of the Greek wisdom:

“Know thyself.”

Boom.

This is knowing thyself.

Most of the bloggers on the Google list know themselves in a world of bloggers who generally horseshit themselves with excuses.

Most bloggers do not know thyself because they never face fears to address egoic blind spots. God knows I addressed many and have far more to address to simplify things more.

But, I did have the basic, simple framework documented through my blogging courses and blogging eBooks. Literally, I would take-read eachΒ  to refresh my mind and return to the basics versus deviating into complex strategies.

Follow these highly practical tips to stick to the blogging basics:

  • publish targeted blog posts that solve reader needs; listen closely to readers to publish content that solves their specific problems or pay attention to top blogger posts from your niche if you currently have no readers
  • help bloggers from your niche by reading their posts, commenting genuinely on their blogs, promoting them on your blog and promoting them on social media; ask for nothing, expect nothing and gain their trust to become blogging friends
  • open multiple income streams

That’s it. That’s the simple blogging stuff you need to do for a long time in order for the Google algorithm to say you belong on a list with Darren, Pete, Seth, Maria, Perez and all those pro’s pros.

Of course, I painted this one with broad strokes. Following specific practical tips to create content, build connections and monetize properly requires study, learning, practice, patience and persistence. You need to practice a bunch to get really good at doing simple things skillfully and successfully. Being simple doesn’t mean that blogging is easy. Blogging is quite challenging because it unearths fears.

Yet with helpful premium and free blogging resources out there, you can keep returning to simple, to gain exposure, versus deviating and gaining little to no exposure.

Practical Tips

  • publish 1500 word blog posts every 1-2 weeks if you can
  • solve reader problems
  • SEO-optimize posts to drive Google traffic
  • make posts easily scannable; use headers, bullet point lists, bold and italics to create contrast
  • write your rear end off daily in an offline setting (for practice in a Word document) to gain clarity and confidence as a blogger
  • grow your blogger friend network to discover the real secret of how to get featured on Google; blogging friends expand your reach far and wide
  • comment genuinely on blogs from your niche
  • promote fellow bloggers on your blog
  • promote fellow bloggers through your social media

Follow bloggers like Anil Agarwal and Adam Connell. Both of my blogging friends are two of the top bloggers in the world. Each dominates Google, gains massive exposure and teaches you how to do the same.

Surrounding yourself with pros like these conditions you, too, to get featured on Google. I learned from Anil and Adam that being incredibly patient in publishing thorough, detailed, targeted content is the way to gain big time exposure over the long haul. Both also helped me by giving me and my blog exposure through their generous social media and blog mentions. Great guys and phenomenal bloggers, they are.

Learn from the best. Befriend these pros by helping them and asking for no favors in return. Put their blogging advice into action. Eventually you will be popping up on lists besides these pros.

Conclusion

There you have it guys.

Seize and study these insider tips for getting featured as a top blogger on Google.

Practically speaking, you need to drill the *being patient and being persistent* tip into your mind before the blogging strategies tips because you cannot curry favor with Google in a significant way by lacking patience and persistence. Being patient and persistent is everything in the Google feature game!

Then, think about Google and its impersonal algorithm. Stop trying to make people happy. Start feeling happy to help people solve their specific problems. Have fun with that process.

Proceed to create and connect simply by investing in professional blogger resources to learn how to do it from pros. Do not deviate from these fundamental strategies. Publish detailed, targeted content regularly. Gain big exposure through a genuine blogger outreach campaign.

That’s the insider view from how to get featured on Google.

PS….if I made this sound too easy…..you are skipping all 3 steps πŸ˜‰ If you follow each closely you will discover that this is a fun, freeing, thrilling journey that will be highly uncomfortable and very un-easy in moments.

You can and will succeed.Β  Blogging can be tough but it is not rocket science. This gig actually gets easier when you only follow pro advice. It only gets tougher and more difficult when you wildly wing it or trust advice from struggling, amateur bloggers.

Stick with me.

I believe in you.

Fantastic guide. Yes, it might sound so easy but accomplish these steps requires patience and persistence.

being happy to help people and letting go any expectation of them. This is how to do it.

Excellent post, Ryan! I always wandered how does Google select the posts they feature at the top, in a snippet. You make it sound really easy, but I know it’s not. I like your practical tips.

Agree on this – aside from being consistent with the methods, with google you have to be reallyyyyy patient and persistent. The algorithm has no feelings or whatsoever so you have to work on that. Thanks for this post!

  5. Ryan Biddulph says:

Being patient and persistent for a long time is the only way to consistently rank Madison. Good emphasis on reallyyyy!

Following step #1 Anda is not easy at all; it is highly uncomfortable and sometimes borderline difficult. When we recall all the times we quit, give up and bail on some strategy, for impatience and a lack of persistence, we remember that the journey is tough sometimes. I know of only a few bloggers who exhibit patience and persistence for 5, 10 or 15 years. But I will say this my friend: this blogging journey is simple in that it requires creating and connecting. That’s it. That’s the work.

Hey Ryan! You never fail to disappoint me. Your journey must be a memorable one. 15 years! The way you stressed on persistence and patience made me feel more motivated toward my work. The hard thing is not to show up and work on your blog every day, but it is to stay miles away from demotivation, to be let down. I am ready to work for hours every day. But the periodic demotivation and the lack of belief in what I do sometimes haunts me. But there are also days when I’m in control of my mind. Needless to say, your words always lighten me up. Thanks! Many thanks for this much-needed post πŸ™‚

I guess I’m curious how many people search for bloggers to follow. Do you think that’s how you get your traffic or is it from the topics of individual posts you write, or the community you built by following other blogs and bloggers?

    Ryan,

I found you in the comment section on some web and decided to check what you’re about πŸ™‚

    Here I am πŸ™‚

I found this post to be incredibly helpful for anyone looking to boost their visibility and get featured on Google. The tips provided are practical, actionable, and backed up by real-world examples and case studies.

    Loved your honesty:
“I struggled for a long time because I attached to the outcome of trying to make people or search engines happy. Gradually shifting my intent toward being happy to help people and letting go any expectation of them changed my blogging career.”

Definitely, BLOGGING could be hard at times. The beginning is very hard. You’re not known, no traffic, no audience.
You need to have passion to BLOG!

    ヽ(ΰ² β€Ώΰ² )οΎ‰

    And you know what,
I love when Google spits out some ordinary people BEFORE any famous figure or known brand.

That’ve had that success, Google, applause people who are trying and doing great work. Every day John or Joanne.

When Google gave me VIP place – I mean featured snippet for a keyword

($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$) “Secrets how to dominate Google” ($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)

Oh, man,I was so so so excited. When I saw it first, I couldn’t believe it.
I outrank a man, who I learned from. A LOT! Neil Patel… (sorry Neil)

    So…

As a digital marketer, I would add a few tips of my own to help take things to the next level.

For instance, when it comes to creating content that’s more likely to get featured on Google, it’s important to focus on creating content that’s not only high-quality but also highly relevant to your target audience.

That’s why you need to do a keyword research
its one thing what you think you need to write about
and its completely another thing -what people are searching for
    β™₯β€Ώβ™₯
This is where keyword research comes in handy.
That shows the phrases, that people are looking for.
    β™₯β€Ώβ™₯

Additionally, it’s critical to ensure that your content is optimized for SEO. Your SEO strategy should start with on page seo. Thats relevant keywords and metadata, titles and image alt text. This will help Google’s algorithms understand what your content is all about and increase the chances of it appearing in relevant search results.

    Then, off-page SEO.
When it comes to Google rankings, it’s about 200 factors that matter-some more important than others…
In order to rank high, you need to build authority in Google’s eyes.
The quickest way to increase authority-is to build backlinks (when other sites are referring to yours). The higher quality the sites are and the more relevant to your niche-the quicker you build your domain authority.
    ($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)
    And then
    CONGRATULATIONS.!!!!!
You will climb higher on Google.

    ($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)($πŸ‘„$)

Another strategy that can be effective is to build relationships with influencers in your industry and collaborate with them on content. Expert round up posts, interviews etc.
This can help you tap into their existing audience and increase your visibility and credibility in your niche.

Overall, this post is an excellent resource for anyone looking to increase their visibility and get featured on Google. By following the tips outlined in this post, and adding a few of your own, you can take your content marketing efforts to the next level and achieve even greater success!

    Rina what excellent advice.

Sticking to the basics makes all the difference in the world. I feel like most bloggers struggle because they panic and bail on doing the basics, when following the fundamentals for a bit brings long term success.

    Keep up the inspired work.
