1 Big Blogging Mistake of Mine to Learn from Now

I never do the “regret” thing because every experience brought me to the perfect moment right now.

But I do share my blogging mistakes to help you succeed with greater speed, ease, effectiveness and enjoyment.

I once submitted and placed over 1200 guest posts for a high level blogging tips blog.

Practicing my writing to the tune of 1200 posts benefitted me and you. I gained writing skills which help you through my Blogging From Paradise blog posts.

But I made a critical error in publishing such a high volume of guest posts. I forgot that someone else owned the website.

We were good friends who connected frequently during those days. I deeply appreciate that guest blogging opportunity.

He eventually sold the site to a blogger with a different vision.

The new blog owner deleted all 1200 guest posts.

In one moment that decision wiped out:

  • 1200 posts
  • year’s worth of guest blogging
  • helpful content better published on Blogging From Paradise

1200 posts is a helluva lot of content, folks.

I learned this lesson from that blogging error:

build your blogging real estate into a topical authority by writing and publishing most blog posts to your blog.

Focus on your blog content a lot and offsite activities a little bit during a prolonged building period. Feel free to shift that ratio some as your blogging success expands but only after you publish a high volume of long-form, targeted posts to your blog.

Guest blog a little bit. Engage in blogger outreach a little bit. Chat on social media a little bit.

Publish and promote long-form, detailed, targeted blog posts to your blog a lot.

Focus on Your Blog First

Make your blog the priority.

Build your blog first and foremost by publishing long-form, detailed, targeted posts frequently.

Engage in a little bit of blogger outreach.

Work social media a bit.

Do some guest blogging.

Do some blog commenting.

But learn from my mistake.

Do not publish a high volume of posts to any blog that you do not own because an ownership change wipes out work deserving to be on your blog.

Networking is key. Guest blogging plays a role in succeeding. Offsite work factors in to thriving.

But publish the highest volume of detailed, targeted content to your blog because you:

  • own your self-hosted WordPress Dot Org blog
  • set the rules for your blog
  • determine your blogging future based primarily on content published to your blog

Create a Vision for Your Blog Not for Another Blog

Point blank; I lacked a crystal clear vision for Blogging From Paradise for a while.

I seemed to have a clearer vision for the blog where I submitted and placed 1200 guest posts.

Hence publishing 1200 blog posts’ worth of content to that blog and not Blogging From Paradise.

I own that mistake.

Learn from me.

Create a laser sharp vision for your blog to publish a high volume of long-form, targeted posts to your blog over the long haul.

Build your blog into something special. Do not build another blog into something special. At a snap of the fingers, even if you build another blog into something special and establish a strong bond with the blog owner, the blog can change hands and your content can disappear overnight.

I need to stress that I do not regret my mistake because I took a great deal of writing practice with me. You and I benefit from these writing skills courtesy of posts appearing on Blogging From Paradise.

However, being a blogging guinea pig and admitting my error means making the blogging journey easier for you based on my experience.

Assess Self-Sabotage

I carefully observed self-sabotage that lead to the 1200 disappeared guest posts.

I undervalued Blogging From Paradise and overvalued the other blog.

Unfortunately, I own Blogging From Paradise (undervaluing what I owned) and did not own the other blog (which I overvalued).

Patiently owning and letting go this form of self-sabotage guided me to deeply value Blogging From Paradise and to value my presence on other blogs less and less.

Evidence of this deeper valuing reflects back to you as:

Valuing my blog deeply influenced me to build a blog valued more deeply by Blogging From Paradise readers.

Quality traffic and overall success expanded for me but only because I identified, forgave and released my self-sabotage. Valuing my blog motivated me to create something that you valued genuinely.

Stop Selling Your Blog Short

Stop selling your blog short.

Don’t look down on your blog.

You have something beneficial to offer the world.

Frame your blog in a different light.

Never be needy for:

  • backlinks
  • guest post invites
  • anything offsite- off/blog

Develop blogging posture.

Run everything through your blog.

Build an impressive blog, first and foremost, by publishing most thorough, targeted content to your blog.

Conclusion

Build your blog into something valuable.

Post mainly to your blog to fulfill this promise.

Patiently build cyber real estate that you own to experience the greatest blogging success.

My gosh, 1200 posts deleted, after those exact 1200 posts helped grow the blog to the point it grew to in the first place! 🤯
