Everyone wants to become a successful blogger.
You and I typically scramble after externals as the magic blogging bullet, at least early during our careers.
Why wouldn’t we do it?
Bloggers get besieged with generic-sounding messages promising big results if you just do these few simple things like every successful blogger does.
Bloggers think that the secret weapon is something out there.
AI.
A particular blogging strategy.
A specific blogging hack.
But the secret weapon is one word.
Even better?
The secret weapon is right behind your nose.
The secret weapon has been with you for your entire lifetime; it has never left you.
Loyal to a fault, the secret weapon contains the storehouse of experiences which take you to blogging heights you never even dreamed of.
What is this blogging howitzer?
The word “I”.
Social Media Development
Something cool happened on social media for me.
I deleted every app from my phone save Facebook about one month ago.
After 28 days my views skyrocketed 2000% to 25,000 views for the stretch.
But something else genuinely arrested my attention span.
My first person experiences created the greatest views surge. I did it with my genuine stories. I spoke of wins. I shared losses.
What made the difference?
“I”.
The secret blogging weapon is just one word. That’s it. It is nothing more than that. But it is nothing less than that either.
Most perceive this to be the tough part. I can bandy about the sugary sweet benefits of infusing personal stories into your blog. I can sing songs of 2000% Facebook views increases partially fueled by my personal experiences.
But you need to overcome any self-conscious fears related to being transparent enough to share personal stories with your audience. Who willingly wants to look vulnerable by discussing their mistakes? Who deeply enjoys sharing their struggles? Do you fear looking like a moron? How do you feel about looking like a fraud?
How does it feel to sound as if you are a braggart? Do you want readers to perceive you as a self-important douche bag? How about triggering discomfort associated with receiving love, praise, appreciation and adulation?
I experienced difficulties attempting to field those emotions. I felt a deep sense of undeserving embarrassment any time readers thanked me, praised me or endorsed me. Deep down, I felt unworthy of receiving love. I felt like I’d eventually let them down, the fans would become disappointed and maybe even morph into harsh critics who all of a sudden despised what I did.
Putting the spotlight on yourself in a world terrified to stray from the herd invites a tsunami of emotions into your mind.
But there is no better way to level the blogging playing field between you and any individual blogger or corporation. No one can mimic your personal story. No one can quite write in your genuine voice. Nobody can compete with that because no one else has your personal experiences or your writing voice.
“I” is beyond powerful because first person blogging makes AI blogging utterly irrelevant. Imagine 10 million bloggers generating 100 million pieces of identical sounding content. Like dropping the Empire State Building into 100 foot waves amidst a hurricane, nobody notices noise within noise because it is all just noise, obnoxious chaos that everyone ignores.
Yet the genuine blogger who shares personal experiences in their unique voice is like dropping a pebble into a still pond spanning planet earth; the gentle waves carry about the world.
Think about that analogy the next time you fear sharing personal experiences through your blog.
Nothing can stop your first person experiences from being heard because no one can replicate these experiences, especially if you write in your one-of-a-kind voice.
