River Pines California USA
Imagine if a stranger knocked on your front door right now.
Picture the individual offering you $10 USD to:
- look around your house
- take whatever they want
- leave with whatever they want from your house
Would it be sane or insane for you to say,
“Shit! Why not? Yeah, go for it. Give me $10 and you can take whatever you want from my house.”
Two people would say, “Yes!”
- completely insane human beings
- people who lived in a dump with nothing of value inside of the house
Every single day, I get messages from strangers who offer me:
- $5 or $10
- a free guest post
to get a backlink on Blogging From Paradise Dot Com.
If I agreed to their insane request, I would have to be equally insane because my:
- reputation
- credibility
- brand
- online business
would be worth:
- $5 USD or $10 USD
- random content from a stranger
- a backlink pointing out to a random website
Literally now, I would be inviting them to take my:
- reputation
- credibility
- brand
- online business
for a spin and it would bless me with 5 bucks or 10 bucks.
I’m not making fun of these people. Nor am I condemning them. Everyone has to make a living.
But if no blogger points out an insane strategy then why would most bloggers bother to:
- look at the insane strategy?
- admit the insane strategy?
- ditch the tactic?
- correct the tactic?
Professional Bloggers Are NOT Insane
Pro bloggers did not become pro bloggers by making foolish decisions.
This means one thing: the only bloggers who accept 5 or 10 bucks for a backlink run a cyber dumping ground of zero value.
You receive:
- 5 bucks or 10 bucks
- a guest post or a quick link placement
You also:
- continue to destroy your reputation
- shatter your credibility
- run a blog that successful bloggers, customers, clients and loyal human readers would not touch with a 10 foot cattle pole
Who Accepts 10 Bucks for a Link?
Bloggers with no human readers accept 10 bucks for a link.
No human readers will see the backlink. You may as well hide the backlink from Google. Google values highly-detailed, thorough blogs filled with dazzling long-form content.
Specialists; you are paying nothing for nothing.
Bloggers; you are killing your reputation, repelling readers and destroying the opportunity to earn steady income.
Everything in blogging is inspiring human beings to trust your content.
Placing low quality backlinks for 10 buck instantly influences readers to distrust your content.
Why?
Even if the content seems to be truly helpful – and sorry but it rarely is – the few humans who may stumble across the post click on the link pointing to a spammy business site or blog and say to themselves:
“Oh my goodness; this is an awful site. Obviously this blogger got paid to place the link. I’m crossing this blog off of my list forever.”
The link itself is part of your content.
Few bloggers know this.
Few bloggers think this way.
Picture yourself drinking a sugary sweet beverage chased with the most sour aftertaste.
What do you remember?
How bad the drink tasted for 5 minutes after the pleasing 10 seconds.
You will never drink that crap again.
The 5 minutes of tasting poop make you forget the 10 seconds of pleasure every single time.
You want a drink that offers a smooth experience. So you look for that beverage.
Readers leave your blog in the cyber dust and look for a blog offering a smooth, truly helpful experience.
How Top Pros Do It
High level bloggers:
- publish only thorough, detailed blog posts
- link only to the most trusted, highly relevant resources
- never ever ever EVER accept money for backlinks….EVER!
Note; I said *high level* bloggers.
I mean the cream of the blogging crop.
Should You Accept Money for Backlinks?
Of course….NO!
Even if the content is credible and aligns with your niche there is an important mistake: the process did not unfold organically meaning it lacks a purely genuine intent.
Link out when you get nothing in return save truly helpful content.
Money, favors, guilt and other crappy motivators always bite you in the blogging ass.
As an 18 year blogging veteran, I would bet my blog – seriously – that you will be dealing with dead paid links one, two or five years down the road. Why? The bloggers always quit. The online business always collapses. Uh…..folks….they are paying you to place a backlink because they are struggling not because they are succeeding. If they were succeeding then heavy organic traffic and steady passive income would flow their way and they’d never pay money to get what they already have.
Think it through my Young Blogging Padawans.
Let’s move away from this rare scenario of receiving money to place a link within high quality content pointing to a quality blog.
Almost every backlink for money scenario points to a low quality or flat out questionable site.
Again; everyone deserves to earn a living but as the world judges it, crypto is a bullshit niche. For the few crypto billionaires out there you’ve millions upon millions of scammers, criminals and predatory sites driven by greed, desperation and delusion to get rich fast through a wildly volatile system few even understand.
Ditto for gambling links or prostitution. People understand gambling and prostitution at least. But both are BS niches completely lacking trust as the world judges each.
Mentally injured human beings usually gravitate to niches rife with hunger and malice.
Desperate specialists offer you money as the last resort.
No sane, credible blogger puts their entire business and rep on the line for a few bucks to link readers to dens of hunger, malice and madness.
When you woke up today, did you think it was a good idea to hire a prostitute?
Why in God’s name would you send your readers to prostitutes, gambling sites or crypto sites guaranteed to crash as quickly as each site goes up?
People pay you money to drop links because they are desperate not because they have something of value to offer.
If they had something valuable to offer people would link to it organically; the paid campaign would be pointless.
Conclusion
Never accept money to place backlinks.
Period.
Value your reputation.
Earn credibility.
Never give readers a clear reason to distrust you, your content, blog and online business.
Your Turn
Why do you drop backlinks?
Do you need to be more discerning with your backlink strategy?
