I pride myself on covering the blogging tips niche from as many angles as possible.

Say what you want about me.

But I do not hold back my knowledge.

I sell the knowledge sometimes through my online course and eBooks. Everyone needs to make a living. I run an online business here folks.

I also offer readers 700 plus free, detailed blog posts dripping with practical blogging tips. Giving away the farm is a key component to gaining credibility and exposure. Hold back and it will be held back from you. Trying to nickle and dime readers never works well for bloggers. Why would you want to lose credibility and exposure? This is what happens when you hold back what you know for the fear of giving away your best stuff.

What Do I Mean By Giving Readers What They Need to Know?

Exhibit A:

How to Start a Blog the Right Way

I list all steps necessary for how to start a blog the right way, at least from my perspective. I give readers what readers need to know about starting a blog intelligently. Notice that I did not list four short steps. I drilled down into six detailed steps to walk readers from problem to solution.

I share practical tips for confused new bloggers to follow. Giving readers what readers need to know means baby stepping followers from pressing problems to relieving solutions.

Never leave out steps. Missing steps erodes credibility.

Beginner bloggers usually err in this department. Few know what it takes to succeed in their niche of choice unless a newbie has extensive experience with the subject matter. The knee jerk reaction is to publish a short form post with a few basic tips to follow. Bad idea. Nothing sends readers away faster than thin content.

Research. Do your homework. Conduct thorough due diligence. Gain knowledge. Inform readers how to get the job done. Learn how to solve problems from professionals. Take notes. Share these practical tips in your genuine blogging voice. Build your solutions but perform due diligence to be well informed. Researching topics instills credibility. Before you publish content make sure it’s accurate.

Never Hold Back

Even experienced bloggers tend to hold back sometimes.

Pros feel tempted to coast based on their reputation.

Appreciative readers may deceive you. Perhaps a few vibe with a short and sweet approach. But most readers want beefy solutions. Google wants thorough content. Successful bloggers build their cyber street name on highly detailed blog posts.

Train your mind to be thorough. Set a minimum word count of 1200 words per post. Do not force yourself to reach the word count. But add enough tips to step to your goal. Being thorough creates detailed content.

Consider any “how to” topic. Wise bloggers list every step necessary to move readers from the perceived problem to a rich solution. Most problems require at least 1000 words to get the job done. Drilling down makes it easy to reach 1200 words per post.

Stretching out word counts guarantees that you cannot hold back. You can always add a few more details to give your readers what they need to know.

How to Give Readers Detailed Solutions

Keep these ideas in mind:

  • develop an abundance mentality
  • lose psychological attachment to metrics like organic traffic and blogging income
  • publish long form content spanning 1200 plus words
  • link internally to relevant blog posts
  • break tips down into step-by-step processes
  • publish practical blog posts to add depth to content
  • never publish a blog post until you connect all the dots by baby-stepping readers from problem to solution
  • use bullet point lists to focus readers on the essentials

Over deliver.

Do a better job than most bloggers in your niche

Never publish content to fill your content calendar.

Do a highly thorough job or don’t even bother.

But What About Your Online Business?

I know the question you have for me.

Why would anyone buy your online course or eBooks if you give away so much helpful free information through your blog?

Why would anyone become a customer if you give them what they need to know through your blog posts?

  1. readers buy from those bloggers they know, like and trust to support these individuals
  2. readers buy from trusted bloggers as an appreciative gesture to return the good vibes for all of the free help rendered
  3. wise pro bloggers sell heavily detailed products and offer thorough services for a premium

My blog posts run from 1200 to 2000 words. Readers get free, practical tips from these posts.

My eBooks for sale run anywhere from 8,000 to 15,000 words. Readers buy the eBooks to get the *whole* solution covered inside-out versus a helpful but far more brief blog post.

Smart bloggers offer thorough, personalized coaching services to give readers/clients a bang for their buck.

People pay for the premium experience.

Who gets their full online education from pieced together blog posts? Almost nobody.

Smart offline students pay tuition to attend college.

Intelligent blogging students pay online tuition by purchasing:

  • online courses
  • eBooks
  • coaching

to access *ALL* they really need to know from a skilled mentor.

Blog Posts Are Like Cliff’s Notes

Blog posts give readers what they need to know to get the ball rolling.

Online courses for sale, eBooks for sale and coaching packages offer you premium products and services that no blogger can pack into a blog post.

If you want to give bloggers what they need to know to reach the next level of growth, create premium products and services for sale. Earn rock-solid credibility. Anyone can write and publish a 1000 word blog post. Not many bloggers write and self-publish a 15,000 word eBook filled with a dazzling array of highly practical tips to help you solve a specific problem.

Jamming an incredible amount of highly practical tips into a 15,000 word eBook proves that you know your stuff inside-out. Rich guides give readers all they could possibly need to know to get the job done.

Crawl Before You Walk

Before brainstorming your first eBook for sale, fortify your blog.

Publish a steady volume of long form blog posts. Earn credibility. Give readers detailed solutions to pressing niche problems.

Crawl before you walk.

Gradually add eBooks and perhaps an online course to your blogging repertoire.

Conclusion

Be generous.

Publish detailed blog posts.

Give readers all that they need to know to solve problems.
