Pitching your business unsolicited is like trying to do business with a ghost.
Almost no one sees spam emails. I look over my spam folder fro a few moments before deleting. Ditto for my trash folder. Ditto for any folder not in my main inbox along any communication channels.
What about spam which worms its way into the inbox?
I delete, or block or mark as spam and move on.
Think about the spam approach. Someone who did not:
- ask
- inquire about
- seek
- desire
your online business products or services in any way, shape or form is your target. The individual showed zero interest. The only qualification? The person is a human being. In more discerning cases, the human appears to be in the same niche as you.
Does it sound wise to waste years of your life chasing disinterested people betting how 1 or 2 may be interested or may give in to your badgering, begging, pleading and manipulating?
No; it is not wise to do this.
Spamming Is Unconscious Self-Punishment
Most minds are unconscious.
You and I have been blessed with a decision-making mind. In reality, we are a decision-making mind. But most minds are actually mindless to the numb point of believing they are only a mindless, reactive body, not a mind.
Mindlessness follows because if you believe that you are a mindless body you will do things one seems completely unaware of; self-punishment follows sooner than later.
I have been there. We have all been there. I did not spam during my blogging career yet I certainly punished myself from a highly unconscious state. Everyone does, save enlightened beings who patiently trained and mastered their minds.
Anyway, before I get all quantum on you, let’s say that spamming is self-punishment to the nth degree. Reaching out to people who do not want your offer means pretty much no one wants your offer. Does this approach seem logical? Nope. Does it punish you? You bet. Wasting years chasing people who never wanted your business offering is a painful form of self-punishment. Self-sabotage 101. Most ignore you. Some punish you in return.
Your unconscious decision made it happen.
You did it to yourself.
Spammers need to see the error of their ways before changing. Let them be. Write posts like this but never turn around and shove this unsolicited content down their throat because that too is spam. Even if good intentions make it appear to be helpful you better believe few spammers want to hear the error of their ways.
The Solution
Stop chasing disinterested strangers.
Use your intellect.
Think through the process.
How can you build an asset to send targeted traffic to you?
How can you build an asset to send customers and clients to you?
Create highly targeted, thorough, detailed content both onsite and offsite. Be consistent. Be patient. Put in the work. Put in the time.
Allow targeted traffic, customers and clients to flow to your blog. Let them discover your online business. Allow them to buy your stuff. Let them hire you. Put the ball in their court. Let them make their own decisions. Prosper stress free.
Patiently publish practical content onsite and offsite.
Let the content do the selling for you.
Allow your content to do the convincing for you.
Let your content work for you around the clock.
This approach is being The Hunted not being The Hunter.
Entrepreneur build assets.
Everyone else works a job of sorts by trading:
- time
- their bodily presence
for every penny that they make.
Intelligent bloggers work to free themselves from time and location. Create content to meet that end.
Types of Content
Publish:
- blog posts
- social media updates
- guest posts
- genuine blog comments (comments are content)
to increase your:
- skills
- credibility
- exposure
Allow your skills, credibility and exposure to attract targeted traffic, customers and clients who build your online business.
As a ton of your detailed, practical content gets out there onsite and offsite you will pop up on the radar screen of interested readers, customers and clients.
Why Do Bloggers Abandon this Process to Become Spammers?
Fear arises in the mind.
Self-doubt cripples most minds. Chasing strangers sounds intelligent to one who severely doubts their ability to create business-driving content. Pitching people who have zero interest makes sense to the mind that does not trust the power of content.
Fear makes you think upside-down versus right side up.
You decide to face your fears in order to think right side up as a blogger who builds assets.
The upside-down crowd works as a glorified employee who chases strangers and gets paid with a dismal success rate.
No Right or Wrong Way Exists
I do not condemn spammers.
None know what they do.
No right or wrong way to building a blogging business exists.
But one way to build a business involves experiencing:
- fun
- freedom from time
- freedom from location
- the power of patiently building assets which work for you around the clock
One way to build a business involves:
- stress (chasing disinterested strangers is an awful way to make money)
- being a slave to time (trading time for money)
- being a slave to location (needing your bodily participation behind a laptop or phone)
- the futility of putting in personal work for every penny that you earn AND being rejected over 99% of the time you spam a stranger (in most cases at least)
Conclusion
Why spam?
Now you know.
Create detailed, targeted content onsite and offsite as an alternative.
Let your work do the work for you.
Great time, content creation, patience and consistency go into this process; usually years spanning many thousands of hours.
But do you plan to be around for those 1000’s of hours and years?
Yes?
Invest it intelligently to experience freedom from time and location down the road.
