Me chatting with a kind man in Nizwa Oman. Note me covering my arms and legs as a sign of respect to locals. Showing a little mindfulness goes a long way as a world traveler. Everyone here knows that I am a T-shirt and shorts guy outside of the Middle East.

Compassion.

Seeing things through the eyes of others makes it easy to solve their problems. Solving their problems accelerates your online success.

Bloggers only struggle when bloggers attempt to solve their problems without carefully considering the needs of their readers. For example, blogging mainly to make money for yourself never ends well. Other readers buy your stuff; you need to solve their problems to generate sales.

Being compassionate allows you to see the world through other perspectives. Being compassionate frames your blog through the eyes of spammers.

What about the desperate reader who wants a shortcut? How about the angry eBook customer who drops a one star review? What about the new connection who followed up with the third spam message in 48 hours on LinkedIn?

Being compassionate reveals one truth: people do silly things because people feel scared. People do screwed up things because fear in the mind causes them to do messed up things. Ditto for horrific things. Ditto for everything.

Forgiving their fears removes stress from your mind.

Peaceful minds prosper.

Think Before You Condemn

The LinkedIn user following up the third time in two days suffers through severe financial stress. Or perhaps he has substantial savings but his wife is dying from a rare illness. Or maybe he wants to secure a far better life for his newborn versus his difficult up bringing; he is scared that he may come up short.

Being afraid and not stepping into his mind to face, feel and project his fears, he unconsciously projects fears onto you by desperately following up thrice in 48 hours. Being compassionate towards him reveals this fear.

If he knew what he was doing he would not do it.

If he knew the fear was in his mind he would face, feel and look past the fear to learn from you how to blog intelligently versus spamming you.

Being compassionate is the blogging super power. The moment you join in mind is the split second life becomes easy. Blogging becomes easy. The moment you stop joining in mind you decide to separate mentally. Troubles arise because fear triggers the moment you exercise separation-condemnation versus being compassionate.

Mind Training Is Difficult But Do-Able

First you and I need to be motivated to train the mind because it is difficult……but do-able.

Organic traffic and money flows to bloggers who become highly skilled at solving reader problems. The only way to do this is to:

  • join with their mind
  • see the problem mentally from their perspective
  • solve the problem practically by writing a detailed blog post to address the issue

Forgive their fear instead of saying “F*** off!” to shift your mind.

At first this is difficult because you and I do much unconsciously. But we need to remember our motivation, right? Imagine driving organic traffic and blogging income seamlessly, without working yourself to the bone. Any blogger agrees; these are worthy goals.

But I left out the most important motivator: establishing peace of mind despite being spammed, criticized, badgered, hounded or whatever the world has in store for you, for that day.

Blogging From Paradise Down

My blog went offline for about 24 hours yesterday.

I think it went down for a longer stretch, actually.

I felt calm because I practiced showing compassion mentally over the past 6-8 months, again and again, dozens of times daily if not hundreds.

The moment my wife noticed our blogs being down I instantly understood the only reason why the blog went offline; in a world of imperfection, someone or perhaps a few people forgot something. Perhaps the person was me. Perhaps the person was somebody else. Maybe a group of people forgot something or made an error.

Why would people appear to make an error?

Fear in the mind makes errors. You and I make mistakes because fear in mind manifests temporary mindlessness. In a temporary mindless state, we all forget. Everyone reading this has forgotten ideas seemingly countless times. We all have made mistakes more times that we can count.

Practicing compassion let me remember these ideas. Remembering these ideas maintained peace in my mind as I gazed on my blog being offline.

The site went back online today because the situation remedied itself through sorting. People fixed the situation. I still felt peaceful but grateful for others to help me.

Why?

I spend vast stretches each day of my life practicing compassion with people, places and events.

Doing this lets me tune into your problems because I join minds and think more like you. Solving your problems makes you happy. Happy readers return to my blog. Some happy readers buy my online course and/or eBooks. Some happy customers drop positive reviews to drive referral income.

The Kicker

While this process unfolds, something else happens.

People spam me through:

  • Gmail
  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook
  • X
  • Blogging From Paradise comments

but since I practice compassion with them too I remain peaceful instead of feeling agitated.

I do not get fired up over spammers.

I continue to solve your problems.

I prevent spam through strategies. But as I scale it becomes impossible to stop spam. Being compassionate by noting the fear driving spammers to spam lets me seamlessly dump trash folders before helping you with content to solve your problems.

Why Is It Difficult to Practice Compassion?

Unconsciously, all of us seem to have condemnation hardwired into the mind because we choose to listen to the hate-filled ego not the love-filled intuition. The selection process is lightning-fast until you practice being compassionate consistently.

Have you ever noticed his easy it feels to say, “I hate” versus “I love”?

I find it interesting to publish this post on September 11. I dated a gal who rented a shore house with many traders who worked in The Towers. I met them one month before that day. I have only seen a few since (minus one I saw once in person a week after that day) on television specials. Unfortunately, the girl I dated lost her cousin who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald. The one kid I spoke to after shared horror stories too grisly to recount here.

Tragically, this is the ego thought system of hate, viciousness and death acted out in the extreme. The hate comes up unconsciously, reactive-style and swiftly, then people do savage stuff that hurts others versus practicing compassion, being kind and looking past the madness.

Mentally, can you practice compassion for every mind, including the men driven insane by fear in their minds who crashed the planes into the buildings?

Do you see how quickly “I hate!” and “I can never practice compassion with those ones!” comes up in your unconscious into the conscious mind?

Welcome to the process of becoming highly mindful in a largely mindless world. It ain’t easy but it is worth it to look within.

This is why it is so difficult to practice compassion; unless it includes everyone (aka every living thing) it is not real. Compassion is not whole or complete until you include everyone. Up to that point, you will always hate some for a range of reasons without understanding that:

  • your mind extends love or projects hate onto the world
  • people do utterly insane stuff because they did not practice compassion, forgiveness and fear-conquering in their mind……9-11 is an extreme case of that maniacal thought system going ape-shit on the world

I am not the Blogging Buddha although some call me that.

My mind is split like yours.

When you begin to internalize that practicing compassion for everyone is how to feel peaceful and increase your blogging success, life becomes fun.

One Practical Note

Mentally, we practice compassion to be peaceful and prospering.

In a world of limits, we have security, laws, regulations, spam plug-ins, spam folders and systems to lessen destructive behaviors of the scared, mentally injured and temporarily deluded individuals.

Keep peace in your mind to remain calm as you do what ya gotta do in a world of limits to put control systems into place.

Conclusion

Being compassionate gives you the wisdom, foresight and intelligence to prevent someone from making horrible mistakes due to their own unconscious fears, fueling blind rage or even the little bit of greed and desperation bloggers observe in their spam folders frequently.

You will love your blogging results but being peaceful as you thrive is the end game.

Practice being compassionate today.

People do annoying or even awful stuff because they are afraid not because they feel peaceful.

Did you ever realize that being compassionate with them may be the only example they need to face their fears and become compassionate as well?

Isn’t this the most important lesson to remember today and every day?
