Pro bloggers may guide you to blog successfully.
Few bloggers stress the mental aspect of blogging.
Being patient may be the most important mental quality to develop after being passionate about your blogging work.
Why?
Good things take time to come together.
Nothing happens overnight.
You and I know all of the cliches by now.
Yet the most overlooked aspect of being patient makes the biggest difference.
Google and readers judge your blog by its full body of work.
Writing, publishing and promoting hundreds of blog posts requires patience because it takes significant time to do so with only 24 hours a day to work with.
Most bloggers sleep 8 hours. Whittle down 24 hours to 16 hours. Most bloggers spend a chunk of time away from the laptop for various reasons. Life intervenes. Pare down 16 hours to 6-8 hours or less.
How many long form blog posts can you write in 6 hours?
Researching for blog posts eats up time. Writing detailed posts spanning 1200 plus words takes time. Editing, publishing and promoting blog posts takes time.
Imagine publishing 500 blog posts of the long form variety.
How many 6 hour blogging work days do you need to string together to reach your goal?
Being patient influences you to take blogging baby steps for 6 hours daily until organic traffic and blogging income grow to substantial levels.
The world judges your blog by its full body of work.
Patient bloggers blog consistently until readers and Google judge their blog to be credible based on the:
- depth
- detail
- targeting
- frequency
of blog posts.
Bloggers give years of their lives to blogging before going pro.
No one has access to time travel. Everyone works with only 24 hours a day. Busy schedules dramatically reduce that number.
Consider the Full Body of Work
I drove little Google traffic for most of my blogging career.
But I recently spotted a Google traffic surge pointing to Blogging From Paradise Dot Com.
Patiently publishing daily over the prior few months after publishing at least weekly since 2014 satisfied the Google algorithm.
One of my opinion piece blog posts reached page 1 for a competitive “blogging tips” query.
This is the power of building topical authority patiently.
I had to be patient to send the Google algorithm a loud and clear signal: Blogging From Paradise is a blogging tips source offering fresh, new, highly practical blogging tips weekly or even daily for the past 11 years.Â
I blogged consistently for 11 years to reach this post. It has not always been easy. But seeing the power of being patient goaded me to write and publish blog content frequently.
How the “Full Body of Work” Thing Works
The Google algorithm perceives my blog to be a blogging tips resource in part because 550 blogging tips themed posts populate my blog. 550 blog posts are currently the full body of blogging work.
I proved my blog to Google by publishing practical blogging tips since 2014. My posts topped page 1 of Google after I published hundreds of posts to Blogging From Paradise Dot Com. The search giant rewarded me for maintaining blogging longevity.
Some of my recent blog posts appear to rank on page 1 fairly easily but only because 550 blogging tips posts basically carry my blog to page 1. Perhaps this is one of the more beneficial aspects of blogging for solopreneurs; being consistent earns your blog as much credibility as a billion dollar brand in the eyes of Google.
Readers also gauge your full body of blogging work before sticking around to feast on your content.
Loyal readers and customers kick the tires before buying in figuratively and literally.
Kicking the Tires
A reader may tell me:
“I came across your blog today and read 5 blog posts. I’m hooked. What a helpful resource. I’ll be back to enjoy more.”
I patiently covered the blogging tips niche from many angles since 2014 to publish a detailed resource for bloggers. Some bloggers gobble up 5 posts to gauge my full body of blogging work. Others read 10 posts to deem me as being a credible resource.
Imagine curating a full library of blogging tips except that you the blogger:
- researches
- writes
- edits
- publishes
- promotes
blog posts for your curation efforts.
Being impatient destroys your blogging foundation because it takes years to curate a blogging tips library.
Imagine if your full body of blogging work consisted of 7 posts impatiently thrown together.
Google never rewards a rushed effort.
Be patient.
Build a granite-like foundation for driving search engine traffic.
Bonus Tip
Being patient lets you be all over the place in your niche.
For example, if you come across one of the many Blogging From Paradise posts dotting the blogging tips niche on:
- X
- Threads
you are likely to see my blog on page 1 of Google as one of my frequent visitors.
I referred to this effect as a “cheat code” via the prior link because aggressive self-promotion fuels the phenomena. Few bloggers find it difficult to promote blog posts consistently since tapping a button is not too hard.
The challenge is being patient.
Writing and promoting posts for years is not always easy.
Cultivating patience makes blogging easier over the years.
What Helped Me?
I observed how specific strategies yielded organic traffic.
Noting this motivated me to be even more patient.
For example, publishing detailed content consistently over the prior 6 months drove steady Google traffic to my blog. I became even more motivated to publish similar content patiently to see where it takes me.
Experiencing the benefits of being a patient blogger inspires you to never be impatient again.
Feeling the Pain of Being Impatient Helped Me Too
I looked closely at how being impatient hurt my blog.
Most of my most frustrating blogging struggles surfaced because of my impatience. I bailed on tactics before giving myself or the strategy enough time to yield sweet blogging fruit.
I punished myself for years by turning away Google traffic from an utter lack of patience. My posts never ranked quickly so I ditched the Google approach to churn out thin, non-optimized content for months.
I can assure you that those months were not pretty.
My impatience caused my blogging heartache.
Thank goodness that I learned my lesson.
Conclusion
Being patient is a blogging non-negotiable
Google gauges your full body of blogging work.
Readers need to see a proven track record before following your blog closely.
Overnight success is the biggest blogging myth going.
Take your time.
Trust your blogging work.
Earn reader trust by being patient.
