As a rule, new bloggers try to sprint before being able to even crawl.
Newbies crave writing and publishing a viral blog post. Beginners want to reach page 1 of Google in a week. Facebook proves too tempting to turn down; imagine gaining access to 5 billion human beings? One can get rich in a month!
Numbers seem dizzying. The ego mind sees some possibilities.
Hey; there’s nothing wrong with cultivating a bit of excitement to get the creative engines going.
Dreams compel new bloggers to take action.
By all means, dream big.
However, the way to make your blogging dreams come true is by baby stepping your way toward a successful blogger career.
Quantum leaps do not exist in the blogging world no matter how many beginner blogger wishes that you make.
But virtually all new bloggers ignore these truths along with two critical blogging tips fundamental to your blogging success:
Every blogger starts at zero.
All success is progressive, slow and steady.
I fell prey to each new blogger dis-ease. I guard against each now.
Imagine being 15 years into your blogging career as a mentor who admits to trying to sprint before I walk, here and there, as a blogger.
I do feel as if the weight of the world lifts from my shoulders by professing each mental error to guard against. I also hope to give you inspiration: you are not alone, folks.
Every Blogger Starts at Zero
Every blogger begins blogging with zero traffic, zero profits and zero business. Literally, anything else is impossible.
Imagine purchasing a domain and hosting. Does WordPress dot org supply you with 1000 daily readers the moment your credit card payment goes through? Does the hosting company provide you with $10,000 worth of blogging profits the moment you access your cpanel? Every blogger begins at zero, across the board, in terms of metrics.
But beginner bloggers lost in a deluded haze of fear usually believe professional bloggers started with millions of monthly readers. Lost newbies believe that seasoned veteran bloggers began blogging with $50,000 in monthly blogging profits firmly planted into their pocket. Alas, every professional blogger you see now started with 0 readers, 0 traffic and 0 blogging profits…..just like you!
Accepting this truth grounds you in reality by pulling you out of the delusional, insane clouds produced by your ego. Now you understand how everyone begins at zero and why to appreciate each reader, each visitor, each penny in profits, each customer and each client. Each seemingly tiny tick increases you a little further from the zero level every blogger begins at, meaning you can release all of the nut-bag pipe dreams of quick riches, overnight success and all failure-producing hacks. Now you can generously create and connect to organically build a thriving blogging business instead of trying to get rich quickly.
All Blogging Success Is Progressive
All blogging success is progressive, slow and steady. Embracing this truth dovetails on the prior truth beautifully. Profits grow a penny at a time, a buck at a time or perhaps $100 at a time, spaced out accordingly. But no one generates $100,000 during their first month blogging. Bite-sized pieces of blogging success cumulatively grow into something epic over a long time.
Making a buck or so daily through one income channel nets roughly $365 over one year but around $3650 over 10 years. However, earning a steady profit through 20 income streams over 1, 5 then 10 years grows into something incredibly epic.
Hugging this blogging truth allows you to realize that the seemingly tiny daily fluctuations one sees spanning 3 months cumulatively grow into something special over the long haul. 3 months ago as a new blogger, your blog traffic was 0. But amid the tiny daily fluctuations during a 3 month time frame, 250 people visited your blog. THAT is how blogging success works for almost every single professional blogger during their first 3 months. 0 to 3 people visited my old blog daily for many months. Do I seem lucky now, to you? Do I seem like a natural to you? Did you think blogging was easy for me when I worked daily but 0 to 3 people visited my blog for many months?
I still feel frustrated sometimes at my growth because even though I know some readers perceive me to be a blogging leader I feel like a fraud in moments. But I take heart in knowing that all entrepreneurs who ever lived viewed themselves as frauds here and there; even as millionaires and billionaires these leaders admit to feeling a bit fraudulent in their mind. Any blogger who tells you otherwise is full of shit….including the old, genuinely arrogant me who needed life to put me in check from time to time.
No one blogger has dominion over blogging heartache, frustration or excuses tied to their struggles and failure. Every blogger starts at zero. Every successful blogger walked the slow, steady, progressive blogging journey of success. Do not be greedy. Avoid being desperate. Spot success expanding in tiny increments. Appreciate slow, steady growth because growing organically in modest fashion lays a granite-like foundation for your blogging campaign. Building your blogging business on a granite-like foundation promotes permanently expanding success in exponential fashion.
Would you rather experience ever-expanding, permanent success by being generous, patient and appreciative now versus suffering through permanent failure and guaranteed quitting by ignoring how all bloggers begin at zero and that success is slow and progressive?
Having done both I assure you that the generous, patient and appreciative approach feels better and yields better results, too.
