Blogging for a chorus of crickets does not feel fun.

I have been there.

We all have been there.

Any blogger who says otherwise is full of it.

Every one begins with zero readers.

Adding to nil takes a while.

“Is anybody out there?”

Every blogger knows the feeling. We ask that question after publishing posts, waiting and seeing virtually no human beings visit our blogs.

What’s up?

How can you get people to read your blog?

Publish Thorough Blog Posts

Make your content longer by adding more details to your blog posts.

Why beat around the blogging bush?

Thorough content rich with problem solving strategies attracts human beings who deeply desire to improve their lives.

Reasons Why

  • committed people want complete solutions
  • detailed content drives referral traffic; happy readers refer your blog to like-minded people
  • in-depth content ranks consistently on page 1 of Google

People who want to see your content will consume it and build both your organic traffic and business through referrals but you have to give them the detailed, practical content that they want.

Grab their attention by giving away the farm.

Set aside hours to drill down into practical strategies like you never have before.

Are you ready to pay this price?

It’s not easy at first.

I certainly didn’t find it easy.

I wanted to create a quick blog post and get paid fast.

I still want to do this on social media from time to time.

But whenever I rush content I attract people who want distractions. This crowd leaves quickly. People who crave distractions never want long-lasting solutions.

Look closely at the concept of reels or short videos to see this phenomena up close and personal.

Human beings seek out one or five or 10 seconds of distraction. The process continues for 5 or 10 or 100 reels consecutively. Nobody from this crowd wants to improve their lives. Everyone wants a temporary distraction for a few seconds before going on to the next temporary distraction for a few seconds.

Is This Your Perfect Reader?

Is this your ideal reader?

Do you want traffic that looks at your title then leaves?

Think about a human being who sits down and reads a 6 minute long post to get mine every practical detail. Visualize the type of person who practices your preaching.

Think about that person before you sit down to write your next post. Don’t think about anybody else. Don’t think about trying to get as much traffic as possible quickly. Don’t think about trying to make money through your blog. Don’t think about Google. Don’t think about the algorithm. Don’t think about anything but the individual who really wants a thorough solution to improve their lives.

I guarantee that thinking about this person instantly motivates you to publish highly detailed, long form content that gets people thinking. More importantly, the type of person who thinks about your content is serious. Or perhaps I could say committed.

Committed Humans Build Your Business

Committed human beings build organic traffic and blogging business. Committed human beings read all of your content. People who want to improve their lives deeply desire thorough solutions to their problems. This is the only reader you want. Organic traffic is the only traffic you want.

How do you attract this individual?

Be highly thorough in all that you do. Add as many details as possible to a blog post to reach the complete solution. Never half ass it. Never mail it in. Do the job properly.

How does this look to a blogger? What practical strategy satiates this goal?

Publish Long Form Content

Write long form content.

Aim for 1200 words to 1500 words per blog post if not a bit longer.

Get into this frame of mind. Thinking about that word count stimulates the proper mindset. Most of us want to rush this process. The moment you consider 1,200 plus words as your goal everything changes.

Think through a thorough post instead of holding back. This is a massive difference from trying to get out as much content as possible without giving any thought to quality. Note the difference. Things changed by aiming for a 1200 word blog post. Think big. Blog abundantly.

Beware Negative Voices

But beware negative thoughts arising in the mind as you decide to become more thorough. Some of these thoughts warn you about adding filler to posts that people hate. Other thoughts say to help people with as little content as possible because they are super busy.

All of that crap needs to go. Basing content on scarcity manifests scarcity. Impatient people find and bounce from thin content. Distraction seekers come and go from weak content like the tide turning.

Don’t let these thoughts dominate your content creation campaign.

Think about yourself possessing all the time in the world. Relax. Take your time. Blog from abundance not scarcity.

Do the work even when it feels highly challenging. Don’t run away from publishing detailed content because you fear running out of time or because you fear people don’t have the time to read it.

Falling into that abyss creates a vicious cycle of publishing short form content. Distraction seekers show up, read it then leave without doing anything, hustling forward to the next distraction. This is not your reader. This is not a person who buys your eBooks. This is not a person who buys your courses. Never try to appeal to this person. Get rid of them by publishing deeply detailed content robust in nature. They don’t want none of that smoke.

Concentrate on Word Count

Really think about the word count though because unless you keep it front and center you will give in to the temptation of publishing a little bit of content to satiate a schedule. Or you will ruthlessly edit work down to a meager word count for the fear of adding bloat to your content.

I see nothing wrong with editing and everything wrong with attracting distraction seekers or highly critical readers who are not your customers, clients and referral business builders.

Blogging Is a Skill

Blogging is a skill not a hustle. Get out of the hustle mindset into the skill-based mindset. Look at each post as a masterpiece. No need to hit it out of the park every time out. I guide you to hit blogging singles. Yet the singles should be thorough content to attract committed readers who actually devote the time to read the content.

Otherwise your blog will become a revolving door.

Do you really want that?

Do you want a skyrocket your bounce rate?

Or do you want to keep people on site for 10 minutes? An hour?

Keep Customers in the Store

Keep customers in the store.

Customers who stick around make a purchase and mention your wonderful products and services to like-minded people.

People stay in the store when they have a lot of helpful content to read and use.

Readers tell me that they bookmark posts while they study the content. Imagine what that does for your bounce rate.

Think along these lines.

Get into an abundance mentality.

Leave scarcity behind you.

If anything, err on the side of adding filler to your work. Loyal readers begin to show up and stick around. Critics hit the door.  Let the critics go. Keep people who love your content. Focus on those human beings. Concentrate on committed people who build your blogging business one referral at a time.

Nobody else drives organic traffic and referral business but committed humans who devote the time to put your thorough content in the practice.

The longer and more detailed content, the better.
